Several months ago, when I went to challenge Giovanni in Pokemon SoulSilver, I stopped at the Goldenrod Radio Station while Buena's Password Show was supposed to take place, and it didn't. At the time, I thought this had something to do with daylight savings time.

Just two days ago, I realized what was really going on. I had stopped early with the regular temple missions in Pokemon Ranger: Guardian Signs, took right to challenging Deoxys, and eventually transferred it to Diamond. It was fucking nighttime in Diamond, even though it was only 5 in the afternoon. I checked my other games, and they also had the times screwed up. When I checked, the time seemed correct enough on the DS itself.

From what I gathered online, the only way to correct the time in Pokemon games is to start a new game. Not only was this "confirmed" when I called Nintendo tech support, but I was also told that this might have been the result of having used an Action Replay last fall, which in turn would void my warranty, and that any DS that has unauthorized products applied to it could get infected entirely and could in turn infect any games played on it. I was in such shock that I thought of, first, taking a hammer to both my red-and-black DS and my Action Replay, and then, simply taking the DS apart to sell parts of it, while selling all my non-DS Pokemon games and everything related so that it doesn't all nag at me while it sits archived somewhere in my house. Mom told me not to make such a rash decision, and said we could discuss it the next morning.

So, the next morning, the first thing I did was buy a couple of screwdrivers off of Amazon.com, with which to take apart my DS. Started a new file in Pokemon White, but even that didn't make any difference. Asked on Bulbagarden forums if there's a way to fix the time up, as well as if the glitch could spread from games to consoles like an STD. And finally, I also downloaded Mario Party 2 onto the Wii Virtual Console, just to have something to get my mind off of the whole situation.

Spoke with Mom about all my plans. Selling the red-and-black DS whole to someone else as it was would not have been an option, lest it eventually be sold to someone who plays Pokemon games and they be in for a nasty surprise. The Action Replay would have to just be thrown out (thankfully in my wastebasket, which I'll get to later), and the fates of the games and my gold DS would depend on what happens when I try another copy of Diamond on it when I buy one at GameStop.

So, later on, Mom drove me to GameStop to pick up that game copy, before driving over to the thrift store. I tested out the second copy there, and the time was also wrong, which "proved" that the gold DS was also "affected." Upon leaving the thrift store, I continued to discuss my plans as she went somewhere to pick up a new gasket for the fireplace door. I told her that I would have to take apart both my DS's and throw away my games so that the supposed AR virus never spreads to anyone else's games or consoles. On top of that, I would also sell all my other Pokemon games, everything related, my Game Boy Advance, and even my Wii, since I wouldn't have any reason left to buy Pokemon Battle Revolution. Plus, I was also going to contact Melissa to ask which games she had played on her DS since meeting with me last winter, and offering to give her a new DS and replacement copies of every single game she specifies (provided she would agree to it).

This really pissed Mom off about the fact that I'm already spending money up the ass. However, she did start to get through to me when she compared this whole thing to something related to the printer, where all she has to do is reset whatever she mentioned (don't remember exactly), even though she is instructed to spend $80 to replace it. (Sounded logical. Should've occurred to me that it's not in any company's interest to forego a cheap money opportunity or to fix products for which the warranty is voided.)

So, when we got home, Mom asked me to show her what I posted, along with whatever responses I got to it. By then, someone had asked me to check the time on my DS's. I did so, and it turns out they really were wrong, and that changing them actually does change the time in the games. So, everything is win-win: The games and consoles get to live on, I don't spend money needlessly, Melissa is spared a PM about this whole thing, and best of all, all items I've downloaded get to remain on the games.

Shortly afterwards, Mom brought me back to GameStop to return the copy of Diamond I had purchased just an hour earlier. Done, and done.
