Apr. 11th, 2011 07:36 amForgot to mention, but a few nights ago, Mom told me that she's been working with someone's nurse Kate that I've known since middle school.
Back in 6th grade, there was this girl named Marissa Parody who happened to be in the same Keyboarding, Writing Lab, and (adaptive) Phys Ed classes (not a coincidence; they were tied together) with me. A year later, she shared the same English teacher (Mrs. Alfieri) with me, and might have also shared one or two other classes with me (don't quite remember). Most notable about her at the time was that she wore a trake (something around her neck that helps her breathe).
Years later, Mom told me some stuff about her, and mentioned that she also had some kind of problem being able to eat, possibly among other handicaps. Just the other night, she told me that she has been diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome, and is currently going to sessions at the Cody Center (somewhere Mom used to bring me when I was in 12th grade). She also suggested that I find her on Facebook, and we've exchanged some comments over the following couple of days.

Two days ago, after I decided on getting a calendar, Mom suggested that I call Barnes & Noble to see if they carry any, since we were planning on going to the Smithhaven Mall near it and also since I have a gift card that Grandma Ella sent me. They told me that they have 18-month calendars, which cover this past March through August next year. I decided that I could settle for one of those, but then Mom told me that it occurred to her that she could take one home for free from work.
So anyway, Mom took Marie out and dropped her off for a haircut. Later on, after having lunch, I went out with her to do some shopping. Since Marie didn't have anything to eat yet, we stopped at McDonald's to get something for her. While we were there, I decided to ask Mom to order a McFlurry for me.
(Yeah, I know what you might be thinking: Don't I make a point of boycotting McDonald's, after having read Chew On This? Well, one can write a book pointing out all the negativity of pretty much anything, and it's not like we go for fast food every so often. Less than once a year, though I still happen not to like the regular food that they serve.)
So, first stop is Bob's, to buy shoes for both me and Marie. And then, to Sears, where me and Mom would look for a belt for Dad's birthday while Marie looks for something else (don't know what). We also ended up not going to the mall for whatever reason.
When we got home, Mom had an even better idea for keeping track of weekdays. That is, by putting something on the computer desktop which displays the day of both the week and the month. Now I've got something where I'm much more likely to notice it than right outside the bathroom. Problem solved.

Marie baked a lemon meringue cake for Dad's birthday yesterday. We celebrated it after lunch, because she was due to leave at around 3:00.
