I had become aware two nights ago, of a bill signed into law in Tokyo, Japan, heavily censoring the content in anime, manga, and video games. Even though fanservice is discussed the most, there is also the fact that this law goes beyond fanservice, and also tackles stuff like violence and suicide. This means that even without fanservice, anything with the same type of content as One Piece, Death Note, or Berserk (none of which I personally care about) could from now on become labeled 18+, pretty much forcing them into obscurity.
Thankfully, this law only applies to Tokyo, not throughout Japan itself, but from what I've read, the ten biggest publishers of anime and manga exist right there, and are not likely to just relocate somewhere else. From there, regardless of where you live, you can pretty much figure out the rest.
