Yesterday has not been a good day at all.

First off, it turns out that Ragnarok Online is not compatible with Macintosh. That rules out playing it on my laptop, so I tried dealing with those Mon Colle Knights videos I've had sitting on our PC. Windows Movie Maker wasn't working, so I spent about half the day trying to find a website with which to split and combine footage (no more utilities, and no costs; just a website for damn well free), before uninstalling Movie Maker and trying out an evaluation copy.

With that, I at least did manage to edit two and a half episodes as necessary, but I was completely unable to save anything back onto the hard drive. Lacking the patience to write to a forum or contact Brian, I took instead to dialing up someone supposedly at Microsoft.

I was somehow redirected to this site called iYogi, and the person on the phone requested control of my mouse (which I gave him briefly). After telling him that the problem was with Movie Maker, he then asked me how old this computer is, and I guessed eight years. He then insisted on putting something on it (which according to him, would make our computer run completely smooth) and extending our warranty for $170, stating that we'd be paying a lot more for a repair if our computer crashes. I tried to reject it, but he wouldn't lay off, so I told him to call me back at five, after I speak to Mom about it. He agreed to that much.

Got Mom right on the phone, and she told me not to accept any offers like that. She was already on her way home, but had to go meet with Dad in Patchogue only briefly after coming back here. While she was here, though, she did tell me about an external hard drive that we have, which I then used to transfer my MCK footage to and free up our main hard drive somewhat. At least that problem's solved, and starting today, I can now install Ragnarok.

After she left, I did some research on iYogi, and it's a confirmed scam. (The person who had just spoken to me never did call back.)

(Having emailed Brian after the phone call, he gave me a link to a question on Yahoo! Answers, which confirmed that I had to publish my shit first.)

Mom said she'd be an hour out on the boat with Dad, and would come home to make dinner, but they didn't come home until eight. Meanwhile...

DeviantArt, I hate you so fucking much!

I was told by the DeviantArt help desk that they don't take suggestions anymore, and should bring my complaint regarding point transaction records to the suggestions board. I did, and all I heard was someone ask whether it might be a bug. It isn't a bug; it's just somebody's dick move probably just to cut bandwidth costs or whatever. That much was explicitly stated by the help desk person later when I asked to confirm.

So far, I tried contacting the site CEO, and he has clearly ignored me. Also tried contacting administrator Heidi, who had written a post more than a year ago advertising points, and still have yet to hear back from her. So now, I've taken to writing up a petition asking anyone else who might be against this decision not to fund the site even ten cents, now that I've lost even more respect for the site on top of that which I had already lost after they banned aging up as a loophole for fanservice involving canonically underage characters.

Gee, too bad I can't focus on learning kanji, writing fanfiction, and my gaming life all at one time. But at least cheating DeviantArt out of a few dollars is better than nothing. From now on, until I see this decision reversed, all points I obtain will be accumulated through llama badges, and the only people I commission for artwork (bar non-MCK fanfiction) will be Chelle, nanashi-no, sugarnhoney, and anyone who might find me through Point Commissioners. I'm also gonna make posts on my dA blog and on The Beehive to spread the word, and will see if Chelle and others would kindly spread help me spread the word as well.
