May. 18th, 2012 01:39 am(Writing this on Brian's laptop in a hotel in Norwood, Massachusetts, after he gave Mom permission to borrow it for me.)
Left the house with Mom and Grandpa at 10 AM yesterday. (Dad had already left at 5:30.) Took six hours to get where we are staying right now.
Made a bunch of stops along the way, the first during which Mom had me take Mabel out for a walk. She tried to get under the car, and Mom suggested I take her under a line of nearby trees to let her relieve herself. Instead, she slipped out of her harness, and Mom and I both had to try to get her. Good thing there was a fence in the way, preventing her from escaping into the open before I managed to get her.
Managed to hold myself over with just volume 5 of Lucky Star. That should mean that the remaining three volumes should be more than enough for the ride home.
After we got to the hotel, Mom had to drive Grandpa to the one Uncle Robby is staying at, but got sidetracked when Dad had his van towed away by someone and she had to help him. We were all supposed to get together and eat dinner at a Thai restaurant, but because of that and several separate things that went on with other family members, we had to cancel that part of our stay in Massachusetts.
So, instead, when Mom and Dad finally arrived back at the hotel, we went out to eat at a nearby Indian restaurant called Minerva's. Dad did comment that the name is Greek, but on the other hand, both staff and patron alike were Indian, which he suggested was a good thing. I got some goat curry while we were there, making the first time I've ever eaten goat meat.
Finally, the hotel we're staying at is called Hampton Inn. Not sure if this is a coincidence, but Mom and I used to pass one of those coming off the Long Island Expressway on the way to McDonald's.
