The first person to comment had an exchange with the author, saying that whoever asked for it (that being me, of course) is "on acid", and told me that it looks stupid due to how outdated that kind of hairstyle is.
On that note, I also recall Chelle mentioning in her blog once, what kinds of outfits would look appropriate with a beehive (the examples she used being baroque frilly dresses, kimonos, or classic Greek attire) and what wouldn't (namely, Celtic-style characters such as Kahimi from Mon Colle Knights). I've been aware since they first interested me, that hives haven't been very widespread since the 1960's, and are only worn nowadays by celebrities or on special occasions such as parties, but that didn't stop Gary Larson from living out his own beehive fetish when he wrote The Far Side (1980-95). Although, yeah, I suppose culture would something to take into consideration, and Kahimi is not someone I intend to ask for any further updo pics of. (Personally, I didn't have any problem with it, but I would have a huge problem if anyone were to wear or have something obviously inappropriate for them, such as a sombrero, a chef's hat, an afro, or the voice of Marge Simpson.)
Let's take a quote from episode 7 of Lucky Star:
Tsukasa: Wonder what [Konata]'d be like as a classy lady...
Tsukasa and Kagami together: "Hmm..."
(Cue mental image.)
Kagami: That's so wrong I can't even picture it.
Most obvious answer would be to do some research. Aside from Japan (which is where most anime are set in), if a hive would complement a given girl's attire poorly, I probably will not ask for any hivepics of her. Anyone appearing in Starbound might be an exception, though. With that, people will be free to contribute characters to the fic, I would recommend that whoever they contribute be of their own culture (so as to avoid overly stereotypical characters), and there's only room in the party for three more hived girls (not counting someone who debuts in the first chapter), one short-haired girl, and one boy (whom Jake and I have already decided upon), none of whom will live in Japan, while anyone without a hive can still have a supporting or minor role. In-universe, it would be justified in that the crystals that do their hosts' hair up don't discriminate between culture, being the inanimate objects that they are, although that won't likely alleviate any possible awkwardness for everyone reading.

Played Earthbound yesterday, from the Fourside sewers all the way to Deep Darkness. Whereas in my 2003 playthrough the Kraken battle was the only battle during which I let anyone remain dead until it ended (in that case, Paula and Jeff), I actually managed to beat the motherfucker without it being able to take a shot at me. Three turns, Paula and Poo both used PSI Freeze Gamma on it for the first two turns (with a SMAAAAASH! hit from Ness to boot), and solidified it both turns, and one more from Paula did it in. (Also managed to get a flawless victory with the Guardian General with the same tactics.)

From what Mom's told me(and thanks to Hyacinth back at Suffolk, I'm careful enough not to take what people say at face value, so I don't know if this is what's actually going on or not), Uncle Robby has plans to go to Aruba for ten days. Mom doesn't want Grandpa Bob to be all alone in New Jersey, so she would like him to spend that time at our house.
Last night, she was on her cell phone with him, and told him that I actively enjoy sleeping on the futon. (She also semi-lied to him about this at least once before, when he was staying over at our house earlier this year.) I caught her, being right in the next room from her (not even a wall between us), and told her that I have only slept a total of two whole nights to date on it that we didn't have company over, even though I do enjoy laying down on it in general. She put him on hold for a bit, and told me about how he's reluctant to stay here and have to sleep in my room and "force" me somewhere else to sleep, and then some more after she finished the conversation, about how she isn't lying blatantly just to piss me off, only to make him feel more welcome to come stay with us. I told her that I don't lie to others for any reason, and that I hope she doesn't ever lie to me about anyone else just to please me.
(I do remember her telling Marie (then in 5th grade), since she was sick and couldn't go to some party that her friends were having, that someone also got sick and vomited, forcing the whole thing to be cancelled, and then telling her the truth on the same night. On my part, though, I will never lie to anyone, for any reason whatsoever. If someone is or remains unhappy when I tell them the cold, hard truth, so be it.)
(Okay, so I did lie twice while I was in college, but that's twice in five and a half years. Not going into detail about either, although I did fess up about the first time early in 2008.)
Anyway, since it's now known that Grandpa will be coming here soon for more than a week, guess I'll play Getter Love!! for until then after I finish Earthbound, while I still have my own room to myself. Will still use any time I'm not playing the game to revise the Starbound outline and the first chapter. When he comes over, or if I give the game a rest beforehand, that will be when I get back to the spritesheet.

Watched this show last night, called The Nostradamus Effect. Mom was flipping around through the channels last night, I didn't feel like playing my game any further by that point, and the initial footage I saw showed people vanishing into thin air, causing stuff to happen similar to the beginning of an episode of Life After People. She let me watch a few minutes of it, before asking me if I'd like to watch it on my own TV (since Dad finds that kind of religious bullshit stupid). At first, I declined, but then she set it up anyway, so I figured I might as well continue watching it.
No, I'm not religious, and I didn't actually buy anything it said of the possibility of the kind of apocalypse that it showed, although it obviously is true that scary things would happen if people were to vanish like that. Still found it interesting, though.
