Nov. 15th, 2012 06:22 amWell, the walkthrough states that it doesn't seem to matter what you answer when you try to win the game, but at this point, I have reason to believe otherwise. Last night is not the first time even for this session that I was rejected when Ayumi should logically have accepted me. I remember writing down winning combinations for each girl when I was doing the marathon back in 2009 (on an index card, which I discarded after it ended), and they seemed to work every single time. Right now, I think I've had enough with the game, but since I've since written on each location on the map and which presents each girl likes on another index card, I'll probably do that next time I start over with everything. (That would also entail letting my opponents just answer the three questions the first time with each girl, instead of just shutting the game off the moment they select the heart.)
Also, Mega Man's 25th anniversary is just a month away now. My former plans to celebrate it was to play one game in the original, X, Zero, and ZX series, in order, on each of 25 days before December 17 (and the first of those days just so happens to be Thanksgiving of this year), and then to receive a PlayStation Portable with Mega Man Powered Up for Christmas. Unfortunately, I'm gonna have to cancel this for a few reason. First, which has been in place already, is that after I beat the very first game, Jake wanted me to record how many lives I lose and how many Game Overs I get before beating each game afterwards. Second, which has also been in place, is that the whole point of playing them in the first place was to determine how many lessons I'd complete at a time in Kanji in Context. To play each game early that I didn't already complete would shave off one day, going against that purpose. Third is that I'm not gonna be able to play anything on any of my consoles during the first few days, since Grandpa will be occupying my room and most likely either sleeping or watching TV in there at any given time while he's here. And fourth is because of my current schedule. (Mom also says that she might not be able to buy me a PSP, and to be honest, I don't even know if they still sell MMPU in stores anymore, that having been released back in 2006.) And, in any case, I would like to kinda span the whole thing out anyway.
Well, even though a game is not likely going to come out, Capcom USA senior vice president Christian Svensson did say that the company still plans to celebrate the man's 25th "in style".

So anyway, let's review everything that's gone on since that fateful day last summer, and what I've currently got planned out.
What cued me to try out Mega Man in the first place, was the second half of an MCC passage I wrote in this entry (and I do plan on posting a revised version of the whole thing at some point), in which the characters involved compare the original series to the Zero series, in an analogy to their previous/present lives to their current/future lives. At the time, I wanted something to play before getting back to Kanji in Context, but I didn't feel like playing another session of Getter Love!!, since I had already played that just several weeks earlier.
Bought the Anniversary Collection on Ebay, and played Mega Man 1 for five days after receiving it. This set the pattern for how many lessons I'd do after beating each game, before playing the next. Managed to beat the next four games in line (along with Angry Birds and the 2011 half of Angry Birds Seasons, once Brian actually installed the memory card he bought for us prior) before completing the entire first book. Had a break to play Getter Love!! for a bit, spent two days rereading most of Japanese in Mangaland, and then did the first two lessons in KiC book 2, before deciding instead to focus on what I would soon dub Starbound and come back to KiC later.
This is where the Earthbound trilogy comes in. I decide to play Earthbound Zero all the way through once and for all, just to get a real understanding of what goes on past where I stopped playing the first time around. Check. Between that and Earthbound comes writing the first chapter of Starbound and some minor stuff. That takes about five days, after which I just want to play EB already. Play it, beat it, check. Next task is to revise the chapter and add some stuff to the outline, and more importantly, to draw up the spritesheet (of just the primary four girls, and for the sake of the fic, this is a big deal). First, though, I decide to play Getter Love!! for almost a week, because not only will I not be able to play it when Grandpa's here, but while I do know that it will take time, I'm not sure exactly how long it will take, and I don't want to be finished with it too early on. (The actual details about that are probably best omitted for the time being.) Once I'm done with that, next will come Mother 3, after which I will finally host Starbound and write up a special entry about the entire EB trilogy. After that might be the time that I finally continue with Kanji in Context.
Anyway, since Mom is gonna stay home from work today, I think I'll focus on the chapter and outline revisions today, and probably start with the spritesheet tomorrow. Might start today, but let's play this by ear.
