Managed to fix that problem with my laptop battery.
Before Mom came home, what I did first was turn it all the way off to preserve what was still on it. Also unplugged the cord, thinking that it would only add a few cents to the electric bill while powering something up that supposedly couldn't charge up anymore and wouldn't be going down while it was off. Later, though, Mom asked where it was, I told her that it was turned off and unplugged, and she powered it back on. Turns out that it had reached 93% from 96% while it was off, but then it didn't take very long to climb back up to 98%.
Also spoke to Mom about the computer situation, and she said something about Windows laptops. I told her that I thought Windows was for desktop computers, while Macintosh was exclusive to Macs, so I guess that means I can solve both problems by buying just one thing when I do so. And when I do, I can use that Macbook for potentially dangerous stuff such as downloading ROMs or watching stuff not on YouTube while still having a better one, and Mom can use it for stuff like finding recipes for dinner without me having to share the one I'll be using.)
(Come to think of it, I actually recall that broken laptop that Grandma Ella gave me running on Windows, and I also did notice a sweepstakes for an Apple Desktop computer yesterday while browsing MyCokeRewards.)
