Oct. 22nd, 2014 07:22 amGot the idea yesterday to decide everyone's stats for the Starbound game. I know numbers are not Chelle's specialty or a good way to determine personality traits enough that I'll actually care about them, but these will come in handy if I begin making the game.
Speed: Determines the order in which everyone acts in battle, and also the odds of running away from a given battle.
Guts: Determines additional damage inflicted during a combo or counter. (Combos allow someone performing a normal attack to strike up to eleven more times, like in Mother 3 though no skill necessarily required. Counters can be triggered one at a time from a normal attack by an enemy.)
Luck: Increases the odds of obtaining an item at the end of battle, depending on the last enemy standing and who kills it. Some items have a "0%" chance of being obtained, accessible only through the value of this stat.
Vitality: The amount of HP someone's maximum will increase by upon leveling up.
IQ: The amount of PP someone's maximum will increase by upon leveling up.
The numbers you'll be seeing are actually roughly a tenth of what they'd be at level 99. For each character, most of these were decided through RandomInteger, but there are a few (particularly for canon characters) which were pre-decided to be above (or in some cases, below) average, based on certain canon or pre-determined character traits.
( Character spoilers )
