As I continue to figure out how to continue fleshing out the spritesets I've already created of Lucky Star's core characters, one thing that might really help would be some actual stated heights of those of Earthbound for reference. But then again, whereas the (preteen-looking) girls in Lucky Star are explicitly in their late teens and are supposed to look like teenagers in-universe, it's harder to tell whether the mains in Earthbound are supposed to be kids or teens (not helped by the existence of two sets of clay models, although Ness is stated at least in the American player's guide (which uses the more mature-looking set) to be 13).
Even without actual numbers, Konata and Yutaka's heights compared to almost everyone else is the source of a lot of jokes, from both certain other characters and various situations that arise. Numbers become more relevant, though, regarding Miyuki's to certain others'. She one time mentions sometimes being mistaken for an office lady when she's in her streetclothes, but more importantly, the wiki specifies her at 168cm (5'6") and Kagami and Tsukasa at 157cm (5'2"). Despite those figures, their depicted heights seem to depend on who's drawing a given scene, as she is noticeably taller than them in this shot of the opening theme than in this scene in episode 24. It does help, though, that Kagami actually had to lift her arms up to lean on Konata's head in episode 12's opening scene.
So far, I actually have managed to decrease Konata's sprites by one pixel, and even shrunk her bikini top by one so that a space remains between that and her navel. Should probably increase Miyuki's sprites by one each, especially given how large enough to "touch" her navel I had drawn her breasts (they are said by both Konata and certain character pages in the manga to be much larger than canonically depicted, as are certain other characters'). However, this new range of five pixels (as opposed to three up until now) will be one more reason to await a certain pic I commissioned Chelle for before I begin my OCs.
