Went to Savers yesterday with Mom, Marie, Grandma, and Aunt Marie. Noticed this glass McDonald's Garfield cup that we used to have when I was little, with Garfield lying on a hammock and saying "It's not a pretty life but somebody has to live it," while Odie holds one end of the hammock in place with his teeth while holding some lemonade and a fan-leaf in his hands.

Showed Brian those samples I printed up of both Lucky Powers: Misao's Arc and Earthbound 199X.

To start with, he did say that Misao spoke slightly differently from those scenes I compiled of her, saying things like "Sweet mother of...!" and "for reals." Come to think of it, the former of those does sound kinda unnatural for her, but on the other hand, I did retype everything to read more naturally, and added an "s" to the latter because she is kinda laid back in her speech (reflecting her overall personality), compared to certain others like Ayano or Miyuki.

(Just reading it again now, I can see that some of her first few lines could have also been changed. For example, "I guess so" could've done without "so", and "it makes you a little sad, doesn't it?" could've become "don'cha think that sucks?")

Moving on, he said that the anything-bag that this fic revolves around would kill any potential for a conflict, as while there technically are limitations to what can be drawn out (along with how much damage they can take, which is zero), they're still rather loose, and Misao would be able to resolve any conflict come her way just by wishing for the solution, no real effort necessary. It does help that the conflict that the story sets up is a prank war between her and Konata, that the series itself presumably runs on negative continuity, and that the anything-bag is probably a one-of-a-kind object.

Even that aside, though, he declined on seeing any of the other stories or anything further of EB9X, stating that he'd rather focus on my stuff. He then went on into this great explanation of various different things regarding both Earthbound and Lucky Star, but I eventually showed him the beginning of Mother 3's first main chapter, which the game presents a lot more comically than how Earthbound begins despite how much more serious its actual situation at hand is. (Earthbound itself starts with just a simple disturbance that draws the attention of the police and the general population, as opposed to an actual threat, but the only humor at that time comes from several of the cops you can talk to (one of whom says something about setting a world record with roadblock use, while another robotically chants "Clear out. Get out of my way," before mixing the words up).)

He then said something about expansion as to what could be considered valid material for further installments, which I then suggested could be the same case with Lucky Star, which runs mostly on being as cute and funny as the restraints of reality would allow but sometimes does break those boundaries. Chelle did recently say, though, that while something like follows could begin resulting from recent events, there cannot exist something like a family with a proud tradition of growing cellos for many generations (something she previously reblogged an entry about on Tumblr), and this would obviously extend to something like anthropomorphic pollen with human-allergies or deer with three eyes lined vertically. (Nyamo, being the franchise mascot, could be an exception, even though he's only appeared in canon as a plushie or in visual gags (compared to at least four normal cats in the flesh). I also consider the OVA's haunted pet store (incidentally one of said cats' sightings) to be canon.)

Well, I always look forward to seeing just what the girls might all end up fighting in Day of the Beehive. Right now, though, I wonder if I should show Brian anything of Freedom Planet, which has its own share of humor but is presented reasonably enough to equate Starbound with. I've had a second copy on my laptop that Jake bought for me as a Christmas gift, and he could play it on that once he gets that fixed up before giving it back to me.

All of us had what was supposed to be dinner back on Christmas (don't remember the details, but all of us were too full for dinner that night). This included some Yorkshire puddings, but the first batch Mom prepared failed to rise, and her mistake turned out to be forgetting the flour. She had to make a second batch, and some of us (myself included) had finished everything else we had taken for ourselves and brought our dishes and silverware to be washed.

This month's hot sauce: Campeche Sun Garlic & Herb w/ aged red peppers. And today, Mom and I are making burgers for everyone for lunch, as long as we're all together for one last day.
