May. 11th, 2016 04:46 amDad is planning for someone to come this morning and drain our cesspool, and dug out the top of it yesterday. It being full to the top would explain a puddle I noticed in the backyard.
This is the same one we got installed on February 24, 1999. I also remember when someone came over and drained our other one the previous summer (July 13, 1998) while Mom had taken me, Brian, Marie, and Cousins Dennis and Steven (who had both spent a week here) to the beach. (Our cousins didn't see it, because they had to go back home when we came back home.)
-----
Went somewhere for a psychological and neurological evaluation yesterday. The whole thing lasted about four hours, half of which Mom had spent explaining our situation with all manner of autistic and job services (including Group (7th and 12th grades), DDI, ACLD, the Dowling Project, and Community Enterprises of New York) and how much of a loss she's at to find me a job to support myself with for when she and Dad aren't around to support me anymore. Almost the rest of it consisted of some cognitive tests, such as repeating words from a list, putting blocks together to form shapes, drawing connections between different pairs of words, repeating orders and reverse orders of numbers, and so on. The last part was some questionnaires about stuff like drug and alcohol use, thoughts of suicide, impulse control, social skills, and my emotional well-being.
(When we first got there, I noticed someone in the lobby who had a prosthetic leg. What a coincidence, since I was just reading a certain book lately about amputees and prosthetics.)
-----
Bought a copy of The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening, along with a player's guide and a Super Game Boy, on Amazon just after waking up an hour ago.
I did consider buying a regular Game Boy, mainly for nostalgia, but that just didn't seem very practical. Would've bought one if Old School Gamer had failed to fix my Super NES all those years ago, or if I had sold it since then. Neither of those being the case, I would prefer not to waste such an effort as that, and it would also bundle well together should I decide to sell it in the future.
On the other hand, if I still had my Game Boy Color, I would just buy the game and guide, and play it on that. I did also consider playing it on an emulator, but I would prefer to download ROMs only when there are no practical alternatives.
For the record, that is probably gonna be the last Zelda game I play after The Adventure of Link. This whole thing is about nostalgia, so it would make sense not to play anything newer than Ocarina of Time.
