Mom had a few things to pick up at Stop & Shop yesterday morning, and I went with her just to leave the house and buy a lotto ticket. Before we arrived, she asked me what kinds of cookies I'd enjoy having for the holidays, and while we brainstormed some possibilities, I remembered something we had on Brian's birthday (January 8) in 2000, which was basically a chocolate Christmas tree cut into blocks and served on a platter. She couldn't remember what it was, and suggested I ask Brian and Marie.

No one was at the customer service desk, so I tried to buy a Powerball ticket from the vending machine, but it never printed my ticket. Asked around for help, until someone tried to fix it and ended up just refunding me instead.

(In hindsight, I probably could have used the other vending machine instead of just leaving after getting my money back.)

-----

Asked Marie and also Brian's then-friend James (who was over that day) on Facebook early last night, what it might've been that we had that one time. Neither of them could figure it out, but then it occurred to me that it might've been from a mold. Ran that past Mom, and she suggested it might've been from girl scouts, which Marie was in and Mom was in charge of at the time.

-----

While she was making dinner, Mom handed me a frying pan to put back downstairs, and I burned my hand upon grabbing it by the rim, allowing it to drop. What she failed to realize, as it had turned out, was that it had absorbed heat from the other burners while sitting above a dormant one, and she apologized several times for not having taken that into account while I ran my hand under some cold water.
