Jan. 8th, 2023 05:32 amRecently, someone named Kevin Fields who was working on a different change to Super Mario RPG showed me his ROMhack and a bunch of savestates. As I checked each one of them, I noticed that the Axem Rangers and Exor yield relatively little EXP when their battle ends, contradicting how much all enemies in each battle are specified even in LazyShell to carry.
At one point, someone on Reddit gave me a clue, stating that the actual EXP yields often depends on how many characters are in your active party. Turns out that the game usually divides the combined EXP values before giving the quotient each character who's already joined (I do remember all five characters levelling up when I once used the Lucky Jewel while fighting Culex). I went on to verify that with the first five bosses, and evidently, due to what I assumed was some kind of bug, I could tell that only Blade and the one enemy Exor were actually yielding anything. However, I only checked the rest of them two days ago upon receiving a version of Kevin's work with John's (incomplete) work integrated.
Brought this back up on Reddit then, and then on Discord yesterday after failing the former. Dawn reached back to me, and invited me to bring it up on another server called NGPlus, suggesting I ask in the channel for a ROMhack called Super Mario RPG Armageddon. Initially, the same person who created that somehow chalked it up to an oversight by the original developers, but I then reported back to Dawn, who had seen my exchange but pointed out someone's suggestion to check another server specifically about the hack.
Doomsday31415 replied to me there with the same answer, but then went on to elaborate how payouts actually work, and someone named Will also helped him to answer.
Basically...
It isn't enough to reduce an enemy's HP to 0 for any rewards. They also need to be removed one way or another, not simply disabled like each of the rangers or Exor's eyes and mouth.
Since such a mechanic only affects those two battles, it's basically a redundant game mechanic that would be even more redundant to deprogram. It would be more practical just to rewrite Blade and Exor's EXP values so that those two battles pay out the developers' intended shares.
(From there, I will probably make Mother 3 the next game I ask about.)

For Christmas, I had bought Mom season 2 of Love, Chuunibyou, & Other Delusions! on Amazon Prime. Even though the title says "English subtitles", the language option screen only gives the option of English audio without subtitles, but the show itself is still in Japanese w/ subtitles.
Seeing how I cannot stand Japanese audio whenever I can help it, I decided just to complain to Prime, and Mom said she'd take care of that for me.
In fairness, I probably should have paid closer attention to the title.
In any case, though, I have also been planning to watch the rest of Magia Record, now that that's been dubbed, once Mom and I would get through what was my gift to her. Then would have been practical to subscribe a month to Funimation, and tie more of Made In Abyss in, since she was looking forward to seeing more of that.
