For the first time since I finished college back in 2009 (not counting my month-long internship a year later, which wasn't paid), I finally have a job.
Starting on the 19th at 3, I am due to start working at BJ's Wholesale Club, a store in Bellport where Mom only briefly shopped years ago, as a warehouse fulfillment specialist.
And this couldn't have come at a better time either. Along with our upcoming vacation itself for this coming week, Mom told me earlier this current week that she was too busy getting ready to make time to drive me around to interviews. I continued applying for jobs anyway, mainly to line up whatever appointments I can for after we come back (and the only one I had managed was all the way for the 29th, for serving meals at a nursing home in Port Jefferson). This (along with a previous position supposedly at Randstad, which I wrote off when Mom told me is actually an employment service) didn't even involve an in-person interview, just a phone call and then some questions and forms all online.
Mom stayed home from work yesterday, mainly to get ready for our trip. It was only right before she went out to run some errands, after I made sure first to hear back from HireRight as I was promised in a set of steps and complete all remaining of those, that I broke the news to her, and she decided then to buy us a pizza for lunch while she was out so as to celebrate this accomplishment.
For now, with our vacation only a few days away, I will not be conducting business, since I would like just to have a nice time out with everyone. When we come back, though, I will begin contacting certain freelancers directly on Upwork. First paycheck I get will mark when I actually repost for anything, once I actually put that in the bank, if I'm not already getting some action by that point.
