Aug. 31st, 2024 05:35 amDad has already been incapacitated for weeks now, due to a tumor on his spine that Mom had to keep driving him to a couple of different hospitals for. Just two days ago, though, Mom told me that he got some kind of infection on his foot, that was causing him a lot of pain.
Yesterday, Mom planned on obtaining some kind of prescription for that from Costco, and I made plans then to grab a hot dog and cookie. At the last minute, though, she got a call saying that they won't have it until today, but did specify Stop & Shop to carry it in the meantime.
After being alerted to these changes, I decided instead to dine out at Cafe Gia. Mom asked me if I'd rather just have dinner at home, but since I have a particularly early shift today, I was planning on going to bed earlier than usual, and thought that buying something would save me time that I would normally be waiting on her to cook something. She suggested I get some stuff to go and then wait for her outside.
Ordered a pepperoni pinwheel and a slice of chocolate mousse cake, and then tried to meet her early inside the store. She wasn't at the pharmacy where I only naturally expected her, nor did I see her anywhere while walking a lap around the store itself. I waited for her inside the entrance, and then saw her come inside from a visit to Savers for while she was waiting for her order.
While I sat down on the bench, she turned out to have been in such a rush before we had left that she forgot her wallet, and asked me for my debit card. She ended up paying only $5, which I did have cash for, but she told me that she wasn't told initially how much she would end up paying. (She actually commented how lucky it was that I decided to come to grab something for myself, lest she'd have to go home and come back instead.)
(Given how early today's shift is, while this isn't the first time neither of us brought anything up about watching an episode, I made a specific decision last night to skip it so that I could go to bed earlier than later.)
