Yesterday morning, Mom looked out the window and noticed how pink the sky was to the east. I came to see for myself, and then she noticed a plume of what appeared to be smoke. I asked if we should walk down to get a better view of what might be a fire, and we ended up getting into the car still in our bedwear. Drove down to East Patchogue-Yaphank Road, and it turned out just to be steam from the local power plant, just standing out more in the sunrise than it does normally.

During the ride, Mom commented that driving at such an odd hour reminded her of how often she used to drive Dad to hospitals that early in the morning.

She also commented how, in a way, all five of us were together in the car for one last time and the first in ages, after we picked up Dad's ashes the other day.

Showed Mom s2e3 of K-On! later on. Before starting the actual episode, I commented how Yui has the perfect shade of brown despite lacking that strip of light across her hair. (Ritsu's reminds me more of some kind of spice, maybe bouillon; Yamanaka's is usually nice and chocolatey, but appeared slightly reddish under the lighting in each scene she appeared in here.)

Brian and Emily put on this new Wallace & Gromit movie last night, Vengeance Most Fowl, which I gather to have just been released here a few days ago.

Surely, Dad would have loved to see that next installment in the franchise, had he lived just a few weeks longer so as to still even be able to follow along with something similarly long to an episode of Spitting Image.

Considering that led me then to wonder why we never bothered to tell him about the previous feature film, The Curse of the Were-Rabbit, back when he rewatched the first three short films and checked out A Matter of Loaf and Death, which came out three years later, back in 2014. Then I wondered why none of us, including Grandma Barbara herself, suggested anything when she took us to see March of the Penguins, when we noticed a poster for Were-Rabbit there, something she or Dad might've liked that we had grown up with.

-----

A while after the movie ended, I managed to show Brian and Emily s1e3 of K-On! Mom also watched with us.
