Yesterday was the first day all week that I've taken some time to play anything, after all that reading for my Anthropology term paper. However, I did take some time to study for my upcoming Marketing midterm.

To start with, I began a new game in Dark Cloud. That's right, I played Dark Cloud 1, not Dark Cloud 2. I've decided I had enough with the second game already, even though I didn't finish it. Originally, I was gonna wait until Dark Cloud 3 comes out, and if it's an anime game, then until I beat that game before playing this one again. What gave me the urge was that I checked Fanfiction.net two nights ago, and saw that the novelization Atlamillia has been updated for the first time in more than a year. Besides, checking upon Wikipedia, it turns out that the release date of 3 still has yet to be confirmed even in Japan.

Although 2 has more stuff in it, I very much liked 1 better for a handful of reasons. I already mentioned before the sexist nature of the gameplay in Dark Cloud 2 and the reason why the Fishing Contest sucks. However, also notable is the concept of fishing itself: In Dark Cloud, when you go fishing, you just have to wait for a fish to bite, press a button, and the fish is yours, but in Dark Cloud 2, you also have to reel the fish in while being careful not to let the line snap. Also, in 1, any Fishing Points you accumulate can be redeemed for weapons and weapon attachments, but in 2, all they do is let you upgrade your rod... which of course, was irrelevant in the first game. Finally, one of the other two highlights of Dark Cloud was the twelve gemstones. In Dark Cloud, you could buy these, redeem Fishing Points for them, or find them in dungeons if you found a backfloor key. In Dark Cloud 2, you mostly find them in chests that you come across when you visit the future. These are sometimes won in contests or from Spheda, but you can only buy them after you complete the main game.

Anyway, Marie came home yesterday. Mom dropped me and Brian off at Suffolk County Community College while she went to pick her up, so that I could look for some books on marriage in other cultures. However, while we were home, Marie mostly slept.

I also did get some time in with Makeruna! Makendou Z. While I was writing down the dialogue exchanges between Hikari and NiseMai [known as "Makenbo" in the instructions manual and Makeruna! Makendou 2; not sure about the first game] at the amusement park, Brian noticed Hikari's dog Sabi in the middle of the screen, facing away from said screen. Brian actually asked if "that thing" was a gong, which is understandable since that dog is so fat, round, and pixelated.

Right now, Marie is getting ready to go to the airport, from where she will fly to Virginia and visit Grandma Barbara.
