This morning, I was playing Super Mario 64. I was trying to get the red coins in Wing Mario over the Rainbow, but I kept falling out of the sky into the moat outside the castle.

Brian went to a party with Eric. Matthew came over at 1:00 PM. I took him on a tour through the house. I then let him play Super Mario 64 and Star Wars: Shadows of the Empire. I showed him where to find the 100 lives and the new triple jump in Super Mario 64.

For lunch, I made grilled cheeses for Matthew and myself.

Later, I was gonna play Kirby Super Star with him, but the R button on the clear controller was broken, so Matthew just played by himself. I watched him, and then we went to Brian’s party with some girl named Emily to pick up Brian and Eric at the rollerblading rink.

While Mom was parking, we saw a painting on one of the brick walls, and I showed it to Mom. She said that whoever painted it was probably paid for it, because that can’t be done in one night. While we were there, I saw a South Park t-shirt in the vending machine, and I asked Mom if I could have two quarters. She gave me some.

“Go play with Matthew,” she said. Me and Matthew played The Simpsons on an arcade machine. After the first stage, we were in this bonus round, and were supposed to inflate balloons as fast as possible. I was only hitting one of the buttons, and he showed me that I was supposed to be hitting both buttons. He got first, and I got second.

We dropped Matthew and Eric off after we left.

Next game: Kirby Super Star

Back to the present.

Received: Lucky Star, disk 2

Mom drove me to GameStop to try out and pick up that link cable. I tested it with the Ruby and LeafGreen, both of which I bought at that very store. The thing worked, and it only costed $1.08. After I got back into the car, I discussed getting a refund for the other link cable, but Mom said that seven dollars isn't exactly worth pursuing, especially since it costs money to mail something back to someone. So, I just threw out the non-working cable instead.

(Why doesn't it occur to me to consult GameStop first, before Ebay or Amazon.com? This isn't the first time I've received fake items.)

Last night, Brian decided to go to the train station to pick up Marie. I decided to go with him, because I don't see him often enough these days. Half the time, he's out either hanging out with his friends, going for job interviews, or tutoring; the other half the time, he's in his room either sleeping or doing stuff on his computer.

Me and Brian talked about all kinds of things on the way to the station. I told him about my plans for selling my Game Boy Advances and related stuff on Ebay once I'm done trading Pokemon, and he offered to buy my pink, pristine GBA for $30 (at first, $15, but I told him that they go for more than that on Ebay). He said that he'll be glad to have one of those things around and possibly program games for it.

Speaking of making games for it, I came up with the suggestion of making a non-canon Makeruna! Makendou game for the Game Boy Advance, or even copying Makeruna! Makendou Z onto a GBA cartridge. He explained that that would be difficult and expensive. I told him that it wasn't really that important anyway, but it would be awesome to play an unofficial Makendou game on... just about any console that never had one (such as the Nintendo 64, where the game could be called "Makeruna! Makendou 64" and have the polygon-like but shiny 3D graphics that that console is known for). People have made similar hacks for emulators, such as the SNES porn hack of Columns (which I played on SNES9x), Sonic the Hedgehog for SNES, Super Mario World on NES, and the Genesis version of Super Mario Bros. If I ever decide to come back to ROMhacking, one of the first major projects I might take up might be to turn a Final Fantasy ROM into an Makendou game for NES emulators, giving people a chance to experience the fandom in 8-bit for the first time.

Marie came to the car shortly after we arrived, and the first thing she brought up was some stuff about Chronicles of 7th Grade. She said how she liked how I brought stuff up that she vaguely remembers, such as going to the Veteran's Day Parade or looking at the stars at Cedar Point. Coincidentally, Brian remembered the latter of those two examples (supposedly even before reading Co7G), and had mentioned it recently when he was doing the same thing with Amy. She also asked what exactly Bible School was, but the best answer I could give her was that it was something like summer camp, but with a different set of activities. It could be considered an extension of summer camp, since it took place for a week right after three weeks of camp.

One notable thing that Marie asked about 7th grade, however, was, why do I only mark down what Dad says when he's angry? Funny, because Aunt Allison said the same thing a year ago, after I gave her a copy of the whole thing, and Dad himself even said such shortly after I got started with the document. I'm gonna have to look over it to see if that's accurate, but I'll be sure to copy any positive (or neutral) things that Dad said that I find.

Finally, before we came home, Brian stopped at 7-11 to get slurpees. Marie decided not to get one because she had already eaten a lot. I got some kind of red flavor, and accidentally overfilled my cup to the point where it leaked a bit. I had to lick the top and suck on it so that it would make less of a mess than it already did, but I didn't get in trouble with anyone.
