The first Co7G entry is significant because me, Dad, Brian, Marie, and Matthew had gone to see a certain movie that we had been planning on seeing for weeks beforehand. The rest of the week's entries are short enough to go with it, and I should also note that this is where Grandma Barbara leaves.

December 6, 1998 (Sunday)

Today before Sunday School, me and Brian helped Dad rake the frontyard. While we were busy raking, Jason and someone else passed by on their bikes. I said hi to them. We also found a bottle of alcohol near the trees near Long Island Avenue. It said “Snake Eyes” on it.

“You drink this, you’d wish you were dead when you wake up the next morning,” Dad told me and Brian.

After Sunday School, Grandma went somewhere, and Matthew came over. We went outside and built a fort under the pine trees and had a pinecone fight. We then went inside, and I watched Matthew play Banjo-Kazooie. A few minutes later, he started playing Turok, and I started doing my homework.

A few minutes after I finished my homework, Dad took me, Matthew, Brian, and Marie to see The Bug’s Life, and each of us put a bag of chocolate covered pretzels and a Capri-Sun in our pockets. Dad told us not to admit our real ages or else they wouldn’t allow us to bring our own snacks. “Eric, you’re eleven. Matthew, you’re eleven. Brian, you’re ten. Marie, you’re eight.” He also told us not to start eating too early. Brian’s like “What about the old age discount?”

“Okay, old age discount,” Dad told him.

Before the movie started, we saw commercials for Jack Frost, The Prince of Egypt, and Inspector Gadget, and then they played a part where there’s this old man playing chess with himself. I never did eat my pretzels or drink my Capri-sun.

When we got home, I saved my pretzels in the freezer. I also introduced Matthew to Grandma Barbara. Later, we went to drop Matthew off, and then went to the same restaurant we went to exactly two weeks ago. Dad turned on oldies, and they were playing “Sherry Baby.” Dad asked Mom, Marie, and Grandma “You wanna know what we saw while we were raking?” They wanted to know.

“Snake eyes,” I told them. Marie’s like “eeeww!!!”

“It was some alcoholic drink. I told them ‘If you drink that, you’d wish you were dead the next morning.’”

December 7, 1998 (Monday)

Today, Grandma Barbara went back home. Mom also took Banjo-Kazooie back to Blockbuster. We brought Mom and Dad’s TV back into their bedroom.

December 9, 1998 (Wednesday)

After school today, I went to Danny’s. Over there, we were playing on the pogo stick and the skateboard.

December 10, 1998 (Thursday)

During Third Period, Ms. Darson led us to the school store to buy Christmas presents.

After school, I called Danny on the phone to see if he could play. I asked him if he wanted me to bring A Bible School Story with me, and he agreed. It was drizzling, and I kept it under my coat. I never actually did read it to him, but when I got to his house, we both went back to my house to play Nintendo. He decided to play Turok, and it took us a few seconds to figure out that you use the C buttons, not the control stick, to move around.

Tonight before dinner, we saw something on MTV with South Park characters in it. They were in Las Vegas, and Chef was in a car with someone. Kenny saw some woman, and then the woman blew a kiss onto his ass when he left.

It turns out that the song in question is called Kenny's Dead, and it's sung by Master P. Click the link if you're interested:

At 6:00 PM, Dad was watching Celebrity Deathmatch with Brian and Marie, and I came out to watch. I jumped into the air in excitement while watching it. After wards, I wrote down “Celebrity Deathmatch comes on at the same time Oohhh Noooo!!! Mr. Bill Presents does.”

Next game: Super Mario Bros. 2

Back to the present.

Received: Kanon, disk 3

Mom brought Marie home yesterday as she came home from work. Brian then drove me to Dr. Perret's office, where we both had an appointment each on the same day. I went first, while he read some book in the car.

For most of my session, I spoke to him about the "right" way to live, which I believe depends on how one defines it for themselves. For me, it's just to enjoy it as much as possible, because it's not like I'm actually gonna regret anything when I'm dead. Sometimes, Dad says that I'm wasting my life away by playing video games so much, but to me, video games is exactly what life is all about. Now, I can understand him getting upset about me gaming when I've got schoolwork to take care of, and I know that the world doesn't owe me a living, but I remember one time, when I was playing Pokemon Pearl during winter break, when I have no schoolwork to deal with, and he ranted about how the decades will go by before I wake up and realize I've gamed my whole life away. Well, fine. In fact, gaming is exactly one reason why I wish not to get married or raise kids. I don't wanna be bothered to fix or clean things up or have to help some ten-year-old solve algebra problems when I'm off from work, or even think up some weekend activities; I just want to have as little human contact as possible while I watch my Pokemon level up. Not a healthy lifestyle? So be it.

At Jake's request, I also managed to spend the last fifteen minutes of my session discussing the dispute he and I had that led us to stop discussing Parasitic Trio. Jake has a handful of qualms with it, but his main gripe is that, despite what the word "Legendary" implies, it is possible for a non-legendary to compete with a legendary. I wasn't expecting Dr. Perret to be able to understand anything about Pokemon or fanfiction, but he said that this is like David and Goliath: Naturally, one would expect that Goliath (or equivalently, the Legendary Pokemon in question) would win, but it is possible for anyone else to have some kind of advantage over him. (Even though I did explain such an argument, Jake still refuses to buy it. Oh well.)

That concluded my session. Brian drove me over to OfficeMax to buy some colored pencils, before having his session. I got a pack of 72, paid for it, and strode over to Borders across the parking lot. Over there, I read the first few chapters of the Haruhi manga, and the first chapter of Mao-chan. I paid for the latter, and then waited outside for Brian.

Coming home, I found out online that there actually is an anime version of Mao-chan, and put it right on my Netflix queue despite the negative reviews it got.
