Co7G will continue next week
Jun. 18th, 2009 06:56 amRight now, I think it would be best if I had a break from posting entries of Co7G for now. The Saturday after I had left off is the day that I had bought Banjo-Kazooie, one of the three games that I had spent the most time with during the year, and I have been looking forward to that one. But, before I start playing it and continue posting Co7G entries, I'm gonna have a break and play some games that weren't on the Super NES or the Nintendo 64.
Now, the first game I'm inclined to play is Contra IV, which I legitimately own on my Nintendo DS. Second goes to Knuckles Chaotix, which I still have for Gens, even after most of my Genesis ROMs got deleted. I also own Whacked! for my Xbox specifically for situations like these, ditto for Ontamarama for my Nintendo DS. But, to expand my options even further, as long as I'm hitching a bus to the school and spending a number of hours there, I suppose I might as well take that as an opportunity to download a whole bunch of ROMs and emulators for a myriad of other consoles.
Let's take a look at some of those:
Silver Surfer (NES): I did download this around New Year's of 2008, but the disk that had it is now gone. Even though the Angry Video Game Nerd criticized this for being such an unfairly hard game, his review for it was actually the very thing that piqued my interest in it.
Zelda II: The Adventure of Link (NES): It's one of the early Zelda games. Seeing as two other pre-Majora's Mask games are in the 7th Grade roster, why not?
Sonic 3 & Knuckles (Genesis): Nothing kicks more ass than collecting enough rings and then zipping through the level and whooping the boss's ass as Super Sonic!
Game Tengoku (Saturn): Okay, so I've had problems working a Saturn emulator last time I tried (make that, the first time), but someone did suggest some half-decent emulators to try out on Yahoo Answers. Also, I believe I have found a link to the ISO for the Saturn version, and not the arcade version that I mistook for the same thing.
Tempest 2000 (Jaguar): Probably one of the few, if not the only, game on the Atari Jaguar that I'll ever have anything to do with. Yeah, I do prefer in any game I play that the characters be anime style, but this game doesn't have any characters at all... unless you count that devil on the soundtrack's CD cover. Speaking of the soundtrack, this is (not coincidentally) the only Jaguar game currently to have a favorite song listed in my profile.
Money Idol Exchanger (Neo Geo): For some reason, this game caught my attention when I was looking at screenshots for games playable on the multi-console emulator Xe. I had to look up Wikipedia's list of Neo Geo games for the title of this game, but this, along with screenshots of other cute-girl games, made me ask myself: Why do I only want to save the Makendou series? Why not as many games as possible? (That, my friend, is where Retro Savior comes into the picture.)
Super Mario Land (Game Boy): My favorite game to play whenever Joel used to come over with his Game Boy. I already did make a nostalgic rant about the Game Boy, and I did originally have plans on buying my own and any lot of games that had Wario Land, but I wasn't really gonna look for any other games in particular. So, if I can find an emulator and a ROM, I think I'll add this one to my options.
Mario Clash (Virtual Boy): Most likely the only VB game besides Wario Land that I'll ever be playing. Too bad that Virtual Boy emulators have no sound, which is why I thought of buying a real unit, if only to play Wario Land.
Puchi Karat (Game Boy Color): Even though this was only released in Japan, I actually do remember seeing this in two places in Nintendo Power volume 132. The girls were so cute, I wished I could actually play the game or even read more about it.
Wario Land 3 (Game Boy Color): Since we're saving the first Wario Land game and the VB game for last, why not?
Hotel Mario (CD-i): This is considered among gamers to be one of the worst Mario games in history. Mainly, that's because it can be summed up in three words: Close the door! Even after watching the Nerd's video for it, though, it still doesn't look nearly as bad as the Zelda games, so I think I'll give this a try.
Jason Storm: Space Chase 3 (DOS): An old favorite of mine from before we got the Super NES. And I finally found a ROM for it just last night; all previous attempts to find it ended in failure.
Well, as much as I've been looking forward to playing Banjo-Kazooie, the best way to really enjoy the game and still looking back to 7th Grade would be to have a break from it. Just like back when I was playing Pokemon Pearl: I had been looking forward to the PAL Park and all those other post-Elite Four events when I was playing it during January 2008, but after I got the eighth badge, I decided that to keep pressing forward with it instead of pacing myself would only ruin it. That, coincidentally, was the time I had taken to first come back to Co7G after so many years leaving it alone.
