This marks the beginning of the 3rd quarter of the year I spent in 7th Grade. Thursday of this week marks the night of the 5th grade lip sync, which Mom brought me and the other kids to watch, even though none of us actually performed. Friday and Saturday will be recorded tomorrow because something significant happened during those two days.

January 31, 1999 (Sunday)

Today, before I started playing Banjo-Kazooie, I told Brian “If you wanna play, you better play now.” Mom’s like “No, you are not playing all day.”

Later today, we went to Lauren’s new neighborhood. When we got back home, I watched Brian play Zelda 64.

Brian got up to the Spirit Temple in Zelda 64. While exploring it, he got hit by a Fire Keese and lost his shield, and I’m like “You’re doomed!!!” He’s like “It was made of wood.” I kept saying “You’re doomed.” Soon, he met more of those guys that he had trouble with in the Dodongo’s Cavern, and he’s like “Not these guys again.” I told him I was gonna call them Gex, and he’s like “That’s what I’ll call them. Gex the Gecko.” He then pressed Top C, and it said they’re called Lizalfos. This time around, he didn’t have as much trouble with them as he did the last time. Soon, he got up to Iron Knuckle. While he was battling him, he got killed, but he thought he beat him, and he’s like “Yes!” before it said “Game Over.” He tried again, and he beat Iron Knuckle and got up to Twinrova. During the second part, the Mirror Shield was flashing, and I’m like “You’re gonna lose your shield,” but Brian’s like “No, it’s just charging up.” He kicked Twinrova’s ass without using one Fairy. Then he went to Ganon’s Castle. While he was battling Ganon, he ran out of Magic, so he had to use the Hookshot. It took him a while to beat Ganon, but he eventually did it.

February 1, 1999 (Monday)

Today is the first day I’ve got Art with Mrs. Smalle, so I wore my white South Park t-shirt to school. Jacob was also wearing a South Park t-shirt.

When I got home, I turned on the TV to watch Beavis and Butthead. It wasn’t on, but Donkey Kong was.

I had also mentioned on March 2, 2008, that I had also seen part of a music video that said something about chasing a teacher with a stapler and telling her to change a grade. I turned it off before Dad came inside from work, and then I made a similar joke. I'm not sure what led me to do so, but he jokingly asked me which grade I would ask. I don't remember which grade I was referring to, but it was either a C or a D in one class on the 2nd quarter report card. As it turned out later, the name of the song was My Name Is, and it is sung by Eminem, whom I would become a fan of in high school.

February 2, 1999 (Tuesday; Groundhog Day)

Today at Group, we had Group at a different room. There was some stuff on the table, including a Game Boy and a toy phone. I looked at the Game Boy, and it had Tetris in it, but the screen was loose. Sean was playing with the phone, and he lost a chip because of the noise he was making. He kept playing with the phone, and he lost even more chips. At the end of Group, one of the prizes Juliet was handing out was those seashells she promised to bring if we behaved ourselves last week. I took a few of them.

During Group, each of us would have a paper cup, and would receive or lose poker chips for good or bad behavior respectively. Chips could be redeemed for prizes (such as the aforementioned seashells) at the end of each session, but said prizes rarely--if ever--interested me. A few weeks before we stopped going to Group, the chips were replaced with checkmarks and X's, and instead of prizes, we would receive a certificate if we managed to get enough checkmarks.

February 3, 1999 (Wednesday)

The other day, I asked Mom what CD that was that we listened to on the morning before visiting New York City. She told me it was Dave Matthew’s Band. Tonight, she picked up the same CD, which was called Crash. The song is called Too Much. I put it into the stereo, and at first, I just listened to it, but then Brian asked why I don’t dance to it. We then both did so, and played the song several times over each time it ended. I also thought up a situation where the Bible School Kids and the Fashion Police have a fight in which each team is inside a moving van, and everyone’s got rocket launchers and needs to shoot the opposing team with it.

February 4, 1999 (Thursday)

Tonight, Mom was home for dinner, but we had stew anyway. While we were eating, we talked about a Lip Sync that was taking place tonight at Charles E. Walters. After we finished eating, Mom had to go to the church to take care of something before driving us to see the Lip Sync. On the way there, Marie asked why we were born two years apart. Coincidentally, the Lupfer kids are four years apart from eachother, and Mrs. Lupfer is gonna have a baby soon.

When we got to the Lip Sync, Charlene and another girl were doing A Baby is a Gift, and they threw a Tommy doll back and forth to eachother. Some of the teachers did When the Saints, and they had a drumset, some horns, and some other band instruments. There were no words, and during the song, the teacher who was playing the drums threw a drumstick through the basketball hoop, and then another one later. Some of the other songs were La la la [the Spice Girls song], Oh, Baby, Baby, I Got You Babe, and The Adams Family.

After the Lip Sync was over, the judges were announcing who was getting trophies for certain things. It’s too bad Anna wasn’t there. When we were walking to the suburban, Marie said something about not applauding to people who suck. Mom’s like “You should cheer for them because they feel nervous.” Brian told us that Rori was gonna do The Electric Slide, but he couldn’t because his Mom couldn’t drive him, and he didn’t want to do it anyway. When we got in the car, Marie said something about the teachers, and Mom’s like “The teachers don’t get prizes. They just play for fun.”

“Did the teachers decide this?” I asked her.

“Yeah,” she said. “You sure like a democracy.”

Back to the present.

Mom and Dad did attend the WoodenBoat festival yesterday. Meanwhile, I scrubbed two pantry shelf columns yesterday, but also finished up the main game in Banjo-Kazooie. They came home shortly after I beat the game.

Thanks to chores, some time spent playing Pokemon Diamond, and my coming to work with Mom last Thursday, it's taken a total of five days to complete the main game in Banjo-Kazooie. Today, I'm going to turn the game on one more time to check out the secret places that Mumbo shows you when you beat the game with all 100 jigsaw pieces. The next game on the 7th grade roster will be revealed either tomorrow or the next day.
