Jul. 2nd, 2009 06:26 amMost significant item here: Renting Mario Party on Friday. Saturday will be saved for tomorrow.
February 7, 1999 (Sunday)
Today, I played Mortal Kombat Trilogy to get back at Mom and Dad, but I had the sound off so that no one would hear it. Later, Brian was gonna play Star Wars: Rogue Squadron, and he noticed that the sound was off. He asked me if I was playing it. I said no. He’s like “Good boy.”
Later today, I was playing it again, and I beat Nightwolf both rounds in a row. Before all of us went to bed, Brian turned on the TV, and he noticed the sound was off again. He’s like “Dad!!! Eric was playing Mortal Kombat Trilogy.” Dad called me over to his room, and I’m like “Noob Saibot kicks Nightwolf’s ass!” Dad asked me to bring the game over to him. I gave it to him.
“Now, why do you think they spelt ‘Kombat’ with a K?” he asked. I asked him why.
“Because K is a funny letter,” he told us. He told us some stuff about words with the letter K or the K sound. “So, if you want to use the letter K, find a word with the letter K, or change the letter C to a K. Please don’t play that game.” He gave it back to me.
I told him I was saying “What the hell” yesterday after I watched the demonstration.
He spoke to me about saying “What the hell.” “Dumb is not cool,” he told me. “Dumb is just dumb.”
Me and Brian went back into our room. Brian turned on NY55, which was playing this movie called Total Recall, and we watched part of it.
NY55 (Channel 55 back then and today) and channel 69 are the only two channels that ever displayed their own image on my TV set.
February 8, 1999 (Monday)
This morning, Mom drove me to school so she could let the nurse know that I can’t do Gym until I get my cast off. While we were in the car, Mom had the Oldies station on, and they were playing this song called “Hey! Mick! Get Out of My Cloud!”
After I gave Mrs. B. the note, she’s like “Now I gotta use your stinky pen.”
I had a habit of chewing my pens back then, and she constantly had to tell me to take them out of my mouth. People say that this is a nervous habit, and I might have been doing it because of her constantly nagging me about things and threatening to call home.
February 9, 1999 (Tuesday)
After school, I was playing Mortal Kombat Trilogy. Mom came home, and she came into my room, and I turned off the screen, and she’s like “That better not be Mortal Kombat.” I told her it’s not.
Today at Group, I told the rest of the group about my cast. Some of the kids asked me if they could sign my cast, but I said no.
February 12, 1999 (Friday)
Today, I wore my white South Park t-shirt
In Art, we were pasting a piece of construction paper onto a bigger piece of construction paper, and Ms. Smalle now has rubber cement glue. It doesn’t smell as bad as rubber cream glue, but it still smells bad, and that’s why I bought a gluestick last December. Janus told me that it looked dry, but I told her I didn’t care.
In Health, Elouise had a Beanie Baby duck out of her backpack. While Mr. Westberg was teaching, he’s like “Put the duck away.” I’m like “Elouise and Duckduck.” She shared Duckduck with Tyson, and I’m like “Tyson and Duckduck.”
After school, Brian rented Mario Party.
While we ate dinner tonight, I told everyone about Elouise and Duckduck.. Mom asked me who Elouise is. I’m like “Elouise is a girl who’s in my Health class.” A few minutes later, I’m like “Elouise is a girl who wears braces and is in my Health Class.
I should note that, weeks later, me and Mom saw the same duck (a mallard) on display at the supermarket. Upon coming home, I told everyone about it, and Marie's then-friend Nicole (who was eating over) specified it as "Jake".
Next game: Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past. I used to be able to beat this whole game in one sitting back then, and beat it so many times. You see, at the end of the credits, there are these numbers that mark down how many times you either died or turned the game off before completing each dungeon, which are then totaled and shown on your file when you come back to the game. I was hoping that getting 000 (and trying something different during each playthrough) would get me something more, like revealing an in-game secret or getting an extended or different ending. Needless to say, such was not the case.
