For the week being posted for Co7G today, me and the other kids had off from school. Not a whole lot to say about the first few days, but on Thursday, Marie's friend Lauren ate dinner with us and slept over. Friday was just Lauren going home, and later on, me briefly visiting Daniel. Saturday will be reserved for tomorrow.

February 15, 1999 (Monday)

Last night, me and Brian got into a fight because he beat me in Mario Party and I wanted to play Legend of Zelda. This morning, I was looking for the game, but I then found it under the bed. I hid Cruisin’ World in one of the kitchen cupboards, but took it back out and gave it to Brian after playing Legend of Zelda all the way through. He’s like “Did you hide it?”

“No,” I told him.

“Then why did you just give it to me?”

Tonight before dinner, me and the other kids were playing Mario Party again, and we were playing in “Wario Battle Canyon.” While we were playing, Brian got the memory game, and he was losing on purpose so that we wouldn’t have another fight, and I asked him to play normal. Brian beat me once again, so I got into another fight with him. He left, and I started to play Legend of Zelda. As soon as I got started, Mom asked me to do something, and I got an attitude with her too. I started going to the dead end, and Brian was coming back inside, and I’m like “Hiya, bitch!” He tried to kick me, but he missed. I went down, and then came back, and I tried to get Legend of Zelda and Cruisin’ World to keep in my pockets. I asked Brian for it, and he refused to give it to me. I kept going back to the dead end and back home again. While I was walking down Masem Court, I thought about what Medford would look like if the same thing that happened in the Marketplace in Ocarina of Time happened in Medford, where all the houses are destroyed and zombies were standing everywhere, and the same music was playing, and there were seagulls in the sky, and someone screamed. That would be fucking scary.

One time when I came back to the house, Mom’s like “I don’t know if I want you back.” Eventually, I did do as Mom told me to do before I got into an argument with her.

February 16, 1999 (Tuesday)

Today, Brian went to Eric’s, and I was playing Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past. After each dungeon, I played the chest game in Kakiriko Village to make money to buy Red Potions, but eventually, I decided to get money from the spider near Death Mountain. I was at the Ice Palace when Brian came back home.

Before dinner, Brian played Mario Party, and he was playing at Yoshi’s Tropical Island.

Tonight at dinner, I asked Dad how they could’ve had bombs during the Middle Ages. He told us about the discovery of gunpowder and how Marco Polo discovered it.

“He might’ve traveled by sea one way, but he traveled by land the other way,” he told us. While he was talking, Brian started singing to himself. He’s like “Moving right along.” While he was singing, Dad’s like “What are you, bored?”

“No, Marco Polo traveling to China singing “Moving Right Along,’” Brian told him. Mom’s like “He must think he’s a muppet.”

February 17, 1999 (Wednesday)

Mom took Mario Party back to Blockbuster.

Today, I was wandering inside the house, and I was thinking about something about a school where the Bible School Kids would go to. During English, Math, Social Studies, Science, and Reading, all the students have tests where they have to answer 100 questions in one minute. During Lunch, they’re not allowed to have an informal conversation. During Art, they cannot bring their own glue. During Gym, they have to do 1 million pushups. And then one day, all their parents and the police come, and everyone’s armed with guns and rocket launchers and other stuff.

Tonight, I played Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past once again, and wandered outside after I beat it. Meanwhile, I thought about a time when me and my friends would chase Brian, James, Craig, Angel, Travis, William, and Alex on skateboards, and they would also be riding skateboards, and we would chase them down to the Yaphank Presbyterian Church with paintball guns, and there would be a wall made of logs to stop them there, and the music that plays when you fight Ganon in Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past would be playing.

Angel, Travis, and Alex were a few kids that we knew from Summer Camp and Bible School. William was one of my classmates from Tech Ed, Music, Art, and Home & Careers, and was also in my Chorus group most of the year.

Brian was playing Goldeneye when I came back in. He was throwing knives into the air, and they were coming back to him like boomerangs.

February 18, 1999 (Thursday)

Tonight, Lauren came over. I was playing Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, but only got up to the Desert Palace before we ate dinner. Tonight, we had stew, as usual. The Manderys’ car broke down by our house while we were eating, and the Mandery kids came in.

Dana, mentioned in the previous entry, was one of the Mandery kids, but she also had two older brothers named Steven and David.

After Marie and Lauren finished washing the dishes, we watched Rugrats and The Angry Beavers. While the other kids were watching TV, I went into Mom and Dad’s room and turned on MTV. Lauren came in to see what I was watching, and she’s like “He’s watching Celebrity Deathmatch!”

A while after Mom came home, she was in the kitchen, and I went in. I noticed the light by the Mandery’s car, and I’m like “What the hell?” Mom’s like “That’s Mrs. Mandery’s car. It’s not ‘What the hell.’”

Tonight, Lauren slept over.

February 19, 1999 (Friday)

This morning, Lauren went back home.

Today, I was playing Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past. I got killed at the Swamp Palace because I didn’t use a Red Potion when I was low on Hearts, and I didn’t have any Fairies. I then wandered outside.

While I was outside, Mrs. Lupfer drove to my house with Danny. She drove me to their house. Before I went, Danny asked me to bring Mario Kart 64, Starfox 64, and Banjo-Kazooie. On the way there, Mrs. Lupfer asked me if my Social Studies teacher gives homework everyday. I said no. She said that Danny has Social Studies homework everyday.

When we got there, me and Danny started playing Mario Kart 64. We were playing at Kalamari Desert, and were riding on the train tracks. While we were playing, Jack came in and watched us, and then we started playing San Francisco Rush. We competed against eachother for points. I went off this really tall ramp, and I was about to get so many points, but I lost it all because I landed upside down. I went back home a little while afterwards.

During the upcoming entries of Co7G, I did play Super Mario RPG, but not nearly as much as I would during the following summer. So for now, I'm not gonna be playing anything rostered until further notice.

Back to the present.

I completed Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past yesterday, this time with all twenty-four Pieces of Heart in the game. I also looked at my watch, which read 12:42 when I got started, and it took a total of 6 hours and 13 minutes to complete (plus ten more minutes for the Triforce cutscene and the entire credits).

Let me tell you, that game brings back so many memories, not only from 7th grade, but also from 5th grade and mid-9th grade. Also gotta love those nice 16-bit graphics and sound effects, but other than that, words just cannot describe how nice it feels to be playing through this game. I especially like the stuff from the earlier parts of the game, where you're in the Light World most of the time. Somehow, this game, as well as Ocarina of Time and the two NES games, feels more like a Middle Ages game than did Majora's Mask. This game series is indeed classic!

Phyllis had already left the apartment the other day, and she had left us a TV set and an air conditioner. Mom, however, hadn't taken the time to bring those two things down yet.

Brian's Cornell friends Joe and Fred came over while I was playing Zelda. They bought a pizza from La Marguerita for dinner. Brian and Joe were doing something with their laptops, but Fred was watching some biography about Michael Jackson on TV.

While I was walking around outside after beating the game, I noticed Mabel with a baby rabbit in her mouth. I picked her up and brought her into the house. Mom then picked her up, and I overheard her baby-talking to her, and told her what she did. We went outside, it suddenly started raining, but Mom noticed that it wasn't raining as far as the end of the driveway, let alone across the street, and we waited the rain out inside the garage before checking on the bunny. As it turned out, the thing died, even though it seemed to be catching its breath after being freed. Mom had me get a shovel and dig up a small hole to put it in.
