Just one Co7G entry today, in which Mom brought me, Brian, and Marie to that place. I should also note that three years earlier, my 4th grade class had also gone on a field trip there.

February 20, 1999 (Saturday)

The Bumper Balls minigame from Mario Party reminds me of Tadpole Pond from Super Mario RPG.

This morning, I started playing Super Mario RPG. I started a new game, and I entered my name as FU. Later this morning, when I was away from it, Brian checked it, and he saw what I wrote, and he’s like “Eric!” He told Mom, and she asked me what I wrote.

“Kero Sewers?” she asked.

“No,” I said

“FU? Do you know what that means?”

“It means ‘fuck.’”

Later today, Mom took me and the other kids to the William Floyd house. When we got there, we had a walk around the graveyard. Mom told us about the different graves, and she pointed to a separate section with seven white, wooden crosses.

“And those are the slaves,” she said. Sam, Harry, Isaac, Lon, and three other names. I asked her why slaves had the cheap graves.

“Back then, black people had no rights and no say,” she told me.

We walked down to the cliffs by the water and had lunch there. I had a burger bun with butter. While Mom was talking, she asked us “Any of you wanna know what’s for dinner?” One of us asked what.

“Fish,” she told us.

“I don’t really like Mario Party,” Brian told Mom. “It’s like perfect. Instead, I want either Pokémon Snap or Pokémon Stadium. In Pokémon Snap, you take pictures of Pokémon, and in Pokémon Stadium, you battle Pokémon.”

While we were walking back to the car, Brian told us about something he and Brian Rico do at lunchtime. He’s like “Do the dinosaur,” and then they sing the disco song.

Tonight at dinner, Dad spoke to us about slavery.

“People used to think slavery was good for them,” Dad explained. “Of course, that was a whole bunch of hogwash. After the civil war, slavery ended, but there was still racism. If you were black or Asian, you couldn’t use the same public toilets. You couldn’t use the same buses. If you wanted to buy a house, they could just turn you away. It’s no wonder there were so many angry black people. Today, this is illegal, but there is still a lot of racism. There are people who think ‘What’s the point of this?’ They get C’s and D’s, and their parents expect them to, but we expect you to get A’s and B’s.”

Back to the present.

Yesterday morning, Mom had me unscrew the cabinet handles in the apartment to be run through the dishwasher, and later, had me bring Dad's drums up into the apartment. (We still have yet to bring the TV down, but during the afternoon, I could hear Dad playing his drums up in the apartment.)

Mom and I went to Target yesterday, and I finally got a new electric shaver. It still needs to recharge before I start using it.

Mabel caught a blue jay last night, and four other blue jays were cawwing at her and trying to divebomb her. I went outside to see what was going on, and brought her into the house. The bird was still breathing, and later got back on its feet, suggesting that it survived. However, Mom just told me right now that it died, after having gone out to check on it.
