Chronicles of 7th Grade, week 28
Jul. 10th, 2009 06:03 amMarch 7, 1999 (Sunday)
This morning, I did an essay about the Battle of Sand Creek on the computer. While I was working on it, I watched Donkey Kong Country with the other kids and continued working on it during the commercials. When I finished, I showed it to Mom, but forgot to save it.
After she helped me correct it, I went outside and thought about a game that I might make, something that has nothing to do with big coneshaped noses. I like Super NES games, but no one else does, especially Brian. It’s about Brian and five other 5th Graders, six 6th Graders, and six 7th Graders who enjoy N64, and then one day, a vampire names Raethine takes over N64.
Later today, Mom took me to the barber shop, and then to the hospital to get my cast replaced by a bandage. When we left, she went to buy clothes and some other stuff. While we were shopping, I saw a Player’s Guide for Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. I started reading it, and I saw something about A Link to the Past and several games that were made even earlier. When she was done, she rented Star Wars: Rogue Squadron for Brian.
When Brian came home, he started playing, and he played the AT-ST game by entering the “Chicken” cheat. Then he started the normal game and entered the “I Give Up” cheat.
Later, I started playing Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past. Brian came into the room, and he’s like “Oh, this game again? That thing’s basically junk.” During dinner, Brian told Mom about how much Super NES games suck.
“That was the birth of video games,” Mom told him.
Tonight, I wandered outside and continued thinking about that game. In each level, you have to find five Jinjos, a Pikachu, and a cubic N symbol. While I was outside, I screamed for no reason. Dad told me to get back in the house, but I apologized for screaming.

Today, I thought I had chorus 1st Period again, so I asked Ms. Alfieri for permission, and she let me go. When I got there, no one was there, so I tried to think of a reason why I left, but when I got back to class, she didn’t get mad. It was 2nd Period that I had chorus.
Today, I didn’t have much homework. I did it all when I got home from school, but I didn’t do homework that I could’ve done which is due Wednesday. After I did my homework, I looked for more Pieces of Heart in A Link to the Past. I tried pounding in all the stakes in the blacksmith’s shop in the Village of Outcasts, and I found one.
Tonight, I played A Link to the Past once again, but while I was in Gargoyle’s Domain, I paused it to watch Hey Arnold. It was the episode where Mr. Simmons was running a play for “Romeo and Juliet,” and Helga desperately wanted to play Juliet so she could kiss Arnold. After it was over, I went back into my room, and I found out I got a Game Over because my game was unpaused. I told Mom that from now on, I’m gonna get up at 5:00 AM, but she told me that that would be too early to get up. So from now on, I’m gonna get up at 5:15 AM.

This morning, I played Legend of Zelda, and I got all three Pendants in one morning before going to school. I hoped my game wouldn’t be messed up, but when I came home, the screen was black. I told Mom that the Super NES gets messed up when anything touches it, so I asked her to make sure my blanket doesn’t touch it when she makes my bed. From now on, I can expect that my game will still be there when I come home from school.

This morning, I got all three Pendants and beat Agahnim in Legend of Zelda. I stayed after today for extra help, and when I came home, my game was still there.
March 13, 1999 (Saturday)
Today, while I was playing Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, Craig came over to play Cruisin’ World with Brian. I left my game running while they were playing. Later, they turned their game off, and there was my game on the screen. I continued playing.
Back to the present.
Yesterday was the first time I ever traded Pokemon with another player. (The GBA trades don't count, because I did those with myself using my own game paks.) For this trade, I sought a Glameow to show to the Solaceon News Press, and found someone who wanted a Stunky in exchange for it. It was worthwhile, especially since I had never even used my own Stunky.
Last night, Brian's friend Joe came over for dinner. Mom and I also went to the train station to bring Marie home.
While we were eating dinner, everyone else was talking about this and that. Something led Brian to explain what the Sony Building was like, and I jumped at the opportunity to tell them that we had gone there when I was in 7th Grade.
It also turns out that Malcolm in the Middle now airs in the evening on Nick At Nite, as well as in the morning on FX. I sat down to watch a few minutes while Mom and Dad were watching. It was the episode where Malcolm's friends are doing something with a rocket, and Mom's like "What was that movie? October Sky?" That's another thing that pertains to 7th Grade, and the day we all went to see it will be marked tomorrow.
