For the weekend covered today, we have the Memorial Day fair and a fishing tour! Read on!

May 29, 1999 (Saturday)

I’ve started a new game in Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time this morning.

This afternoon, Matthew called me and asked me if I wanted to go to the Memorial Day Fair with him and his parents. He also told me that we’re going on some fishing tour tomorrow. I agreed to go.

Before we went there, Matthew showed me this Playstation disk with demos for various games. We played demos of Ninja and MediEvil, along with watching the intro for Parasite Eve. We also watched part of an episode of Looney Tunes before going to the fair.

While I was at the fair with Matthew and his parents, me and Matthew went onto the swing ride. Not much to say about that. Then, we all walked through the haunted house. The halls in that place were so narrow that we had to walk single file. Then, we went over to some horse racing game where you roll a wooden ball into the highest-numbered hole in front of you to move your horse ahead. We only gave that one try, and then we left to eat dinner at a pizza parlor.

Before me and Matthew went to bed, Matthew was playing some game called Wild Arms. He was in some dungeon, where he had to fight a dragon at the top. Then, he went to a village, and some stuff happened before his mother told us to go to bed.

Today, Matthew’s mom took us out on that fishing tour that we planned on. The whole thing took place on a cruise ship. While we were fishing, none of the fish we caught were long enough to be kept. I did catch a skate and a sea robin, but of course, we didn’t keep those.

After the boat docked, we just hung around and sat at one of the plastic tables. Matthew got a bottle of strawberry milk, but I don’t know where he got it because I didn’t follow him there. I wish I could have one of those. But anyway, we also talked about that intro of Parasite Eve, and I suggested that we give it a try sometime in the future.

When we got home, Matthew started playing Magic Carpet. I watched him play it for a while, and then got bored and asked his mom if I could call home.

By the time I got home, Aunt Allison had already brought Cousins Dennis and Steven over. Steven ate all the rest of those jellybeans that I got from Jamie the other day, but no big deal. He also changed the tabs in our N64 controllers so that the colors match, and now we have to figure out which one’s the defective one again.

Back to the present.

Yesterday, I went with Brian and Amy to the beach. They had also asked Marie if she wanted to go, but she declined.

Before we actually headed for the beach, Brian drove us to a 7-11 store in the opposite direction, and we got slurpees. Brian told us about this slurpee flavor called "Liquid Artillery", which is supposed to be a combination of strawberry and pineapple, but is actually blue. Unlike last year, though, the only extra thing I got (and Brian was the one who paid for everything) was a tiny, dome-shaped piece of chocolate.

While we were in the car, Amy told us that she has (or had) a communcations class at Suffolk County Community College, just like the one I had several years ago. Some girl in said class was giving a lecture on how to be a Playboy playmate, and she stripped down to a bikini while giving it.

As for our stay at the beach, the waves were just as rough as last time. The three of us only went in for a dip, before going back to lay down on a beach blanket. I was sitting on my knees, and buried my legs in sand, and when I got up, I happened to leave a heart-shaped print in the sand.

On the way home, me and Brian talked about this and that. He asked me how far I am in Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, and I told him that I've gotten up to Ganon's Castle, the last dungeon. I also told him that it's part of the 7th Grade lineup, and the last game in line (unless you count a certain game exclusive to Japan) will be announced in just several days. He asked me to tell him which game it was, and after specifying, I went into some explanations about how I used to count the total combined numbers of five dice and a penny, vs. how I use coins and dice nowadays. He also asked me how far I've gotten with Co7G, how far I plan to get, whether or not I've written anything like "Chronicles of 8th Grade" (which I haven't, since that's not exactly one of my favorite years to look back to), and how much longer Co7G will last on this blog (not much more than two weeks).

He also asked me what I usually do with Vincent. I told him that we usually go to this place called Bagels Your Way Cafe. He brings me there, mainly so that he can teach me how to act around other people. According to him, I tend not to notice when I invade other people's personal space and stuff like that. Brian told me that it is true, and that when I happened to be "staring" in the direction of some girls on the beach, one of them waved hi to me and I didn't notice. To most people, this kind of stuff occurs naturally to them, but not to me.
