My first win!
Aug. 22nd, 2009 05:30 amGETTER LOVE!!
Three rounds yesterday.
Round 1: Today's girl of choice is Meifa. Managed to see her special event at the Game Corner, where she shows off her martial arts moves, and she also gave me some Chinese Tea along the way.
Shortly before the round ended, I met up with Sesshuu at Panda Park, challenged him to a keepaway game, beat him, and stole his remaining Youshi and Tairyoku energy. Hana then meets him, he confesses her love to her despite his condition, and she rejects him.
That... was just fucking priceless! The walkthrough specifically states that AI-controlled rivals will never attempt a win unless it's guaranteed.
Wait a minute, that guy still has a chance with her? WTF? You'd think that the statistics would show a frustration symbol instead of a heart after that fuck-up, but no, Hana still has a lot of affection for him.
The very next turn, Daisuke declares his love to Natsuki right off the bat, and wins. Game over!
Round 2: Never, ever, ever talk to a girl if Reika's around. You'll only end up talking to her instead.
What happened, was that Alfonso announced a special event at the grounds. The event in question is where a downpour takes place when you talk to Ayumi (who was my girl today), and Reika beat me there. I tried getting the event, and as a result, she sapped me of my Youshi and Tairyoku energy and the effects of an Angel Pankichi card.
Round 3: Kiiro's time to shine! Managed to get her special event at CD & Books, where she apparently buys something (I can see she's holding her wallet). Shortly after that, I met with her again at Panda Burger. Reika showed up and caused me to lose some Love Love points. I hit Panda Park the next turn, and Alfonso showed up to scare her off. I bought something and hung around at the park in anticipation to a date I was due for with Kiiro, only to have Reika show up again and ruin it. Went over to the Information Center and bought a Date Bogai card, and she snatched it. Next turn, Alfonso invited me to a party at Cafe Liquid, and I invited Kiiro to it, but she didn't show up because of a date I set up with her for Panda Burger. Well, at least I managed to rid myself of the Hose Beast by choosing the party over my date.
Further along in the game, I got my hands on the Shrine Date card, and invited Kiiro to it. Her Shrine event picture depicts her eating some kind of chocolate fish. (That reminds me, I remember back when I was watching Pokemon, Ash was eating a much bigger chocolate Magikarp during episode The Flame Pokemon-athon. Gee, isn't that interesting?)
My date at the Shrine, along with a Love Love card that I stole from Daisuke, really compensated for the points I lost from both bouts with Reika and a Devil Pankichi card. Before the game ended, I met with Daisuke at Cafe Liquid, challenged him to a keepaway game, won, and stole a Rebound card from him. Next thing you know, and this was right before Reika could get one foot inside the bar, Kiiro meets up with me and asks me two consecutive two-answer questions and then declares her love to me!
Could you believe that? Not only is this the first time I beat the game, but I got the hardest type of ending you could get! After all the girls say a few words during the celebration, though, all you see is Kiiro smiling slightly. I would've gone out of my way to decipher what she was saying if only the text didn't scroll automatically. Even slow as it is, I wouldn't have enough time to look up any kanji characters that would appear.
As it turns out, though, the game already had a lot of special events, endings, and memory-unlocking topics saved to it. It's never any fun to play something when you already have data already saved, which is why I didn't bother playing Super Smash Bros. Melee when Brian got it for Christmas in 2006. Of course, the only way to start out fresh was to lose that Love Love ending. Furthermore, all those things you can collect in the game would be the equivalent to emblems and A-ranks in Sonic Adventure 2: Battle.
So, I've lost an ending that I just aquired, and a hard-to-obtain one at that. On the plus side, though, this victory might hopefully mark the end of me playing it obsessive-compulsively and start playing it only as a way to kill time. Furthermore, I'll probably make more of an effort to decipher what people say (at least where I'm involved), though I'm not gonna bother if it's anything fixed, such as what Kaoru says at Cafe Liquid before you ask him about a girl's upcoming whereabouts.
