Yesterday in Business Law, we were talking about the Bill of Rights. While the teacher was discussing the 2nd Amendment, someone raised his hand and told us that he once went to Israel, and every single person owns a gun with which to protect themselves. He said that he never felt so safe in his life.

I then proceeded to tell the class that, from what I understand, it's the opposite case in Japan. There are next to no firearms or other weapons in Japan, and it has one of the lowest crime statistics. Even the police don't use guns. However, I have heard of its equivalent to the Mafia, called the Yakuza. Volume 1 of Japanese in Mangaland has a little bit of information about it, and according to it, "chaka" is the word used to refer to a gun.

Next class: Sales Marketing.

The professor there brought up the topic of Maslow's Pyramid during class. While he was talking about step 5, self-actualization, he told us that even though Todd MacFarlane, who wrote the comic book series and TV adaptation Spawn, did enjoy drawing cartoons, his self-actualization came from collecting baseballs, especially from buying one that had something to do with Mark McGuire. (Not sure whether it had McGuire's autograph or he owned it or what.) I then proceeded to tell the class that, similarly, my self-fulfillment came from getting my hands on a "rare Japanese cartoon" called Makeruna! Makendou, and sharing it with TheNewX, who had also been looking out for it. He thought I said a card, and started talking about baseball cards that kids used to collect and trade. I did realize shortly afterwards, and corrected him that I was referring to an anime OAV that I downloaded after at least a year of keeping an eye out for it.

If there was one thing that I would have regretted not experiencing before I were to die, it would have been the Makendou OAV. More so than writing Monster Collection Chronicles or starting Retro Savior.

Getter Love continues!!

Only one round yesterday, and it seems that there's only going to be one round per day from now on. I did actually translate most of what was said during dates, which made the game last from 4 to 7, and I'm not sure if I'm gonna be able to play it for that long today.

Anyway, I got off on a lagging start for five turns, before hooking up with Shizuku at Panda Park.

One of my first actual dates with her was at Fashion. I challenged Chikashi there, but lost. Shizuku then met up with me, and just in time before Reika could show up to ruin my day. Since I had gotten out of her way, Chikashi ended up getting hosed before Makoto could meet him on a date there. The following turn, though, he got invited to a party, which translated into an opportunity that he took to get rid of her.

Managed to get my hands on the Shrine Date card one morning, before meeting Shizuku on a date at the Karaoke Corner the following turn. Since you can only go to the Shinto shrine at night, I would've set up a date there for the very next turn, if only I had answered a question she asked me correctly. I did manage to get her out the following night, though.

So anyway, while I was kicking ass with Shizuku, Daisuke was doing the same with Natsuki. I one time challenged him to a battle, hoping to take what little money he had left, but he turned out to have a Battle Win card. Chikashi then challenged him on the same turn, and even though I was on Daisuke's team, I managed to let Chikashi win... and break up one of his dates.

Shortly before the game ended, I bought a Youshi Down card, used it on Daisuke, but then he recovered two bits of it, the second by meeting with Kiiro for the first time. (Yeah, I should note that each time you meet a girl for the first time, you recover a little bit of Youshi and Tairyoku energy.)

Next shopping chance I got, I bought a Battle card at the Information Center, and then Shizuku met me right then and there. Daisuke was extremely low on one of his two energy bars, and I thought he would've fucked up a date that he had with Natsuki at China Hao Hao. But, no. He met her, got called to a Whack-a-Nerd game (and those little fucktards do almost resemble the Angry Video Game Nerd), won, and then went for her heart. That's where I usually turn the game off, but then I realized that he could have lost that one. There had been two previous moments when a computer-rival lost because of low energy, but I can't really say I would blame myself for thinking "of course they're gonna win".
