dmxratedWell, Jirachi is being distributed once again in North America, through wi-fi. Being able to download it directly to HeartGold and SoulSilver will mean one less Pokemon to trade from Diamond and Pearl to those two games.
That also means that there won't be any point trading the one I've got in Diamond onto SoulSilver. No problem though, because before I start a new game with Diamond, I might be able to offer that one up on the Bulbagarden Forum. Pearl and Platinum will be able to keep their event-Jirachis for themselves, and then Diamond will have a chance to obtain one from Ruby or Sapphire when I take on the PAL Park in that game. So, nothing will go to waste here.
