Jul. 24th, 2010 07:26 amMarie and her friends left yesterday. Marie only said bye to me as I came back inside from a walk. Mom was having a nap, so she asked me if they just left without saying bye to her.

I just noticed a peacock out on the front lawn, out of the corner of my eye. Marie told me about it the other day, and thought it might belong to the Labbys, since they have other animals like cats and horses. I woke Mom up to show it to her (apparently, Dad had already seen it), and she took a picture of it while it was on the driveway, before it walked behind our tenants' cars.

A few ideas I've had in mind about Monster Collection Chronicles, one I've had on mind for days, and one that just came to mind minutes ago. At risk of eliciting Chelle's Rockna pic, here I go:
Well, first, about the mook battles. I know Chelle advised me not to have so many of them, but the idea I had about that is to label most of them as "Unimportant mook battles" (except for those that actually are relevant to the plot), and mark where the fights end in favor of continuing the plot. That way, readers will at least have a choice to read it if they want some action, or skip it if they just wanna continue with the plot, and whenever I listen to anything that might fit the setting, I'll have something solid to associate it with.
(Don't worry, the mooks in question will vary from place to place, and I'll try to flesh them out somewhat so that the Knights and co. aren't basically fighting inanimate objects.)
The other idea that just came to mind would apply to the MCC version that will have its own website. For any battles that ensue, be they filler or plot-relevant, I might embed whatever video game songs I can find that would fit the setting. Well, yeah, not everyone likes video game songs, and it's possible to have music playing in a separate window. To have the songs available on the page, though, might be convenient (provided they have to be turned on first).
If anyone requests songs for any scene in the ficseries, I'll check the song out to see if I happen to like it. If whoever owns the copyrights to any of the songs tells me to remove their songs, I will definitely do that.

Date: 2019-07-14 06:57 pm (UTC)I was wondering how you could be so sure I'd use that icon, but yeah, mentioning how you intend to do Author Notes in the middle of chapters is a good reason to assume so.
I'd rather advise that if you must do so, just have one version without the filler and one with the filler, and tell people at the start of the story about that and no more. Author Notes look really silly when used like this, and they break pace.
As for the second, I'd suggest just using embedded Youtube videos, since
A. this will allow people to decide on their own whether they want to listen and
B. avoid wasted host space and law suits. You can assume by default that you're not allowed to host copyrighted songs on whichever servers you pick.

Date: 2019-07-14 06:58 pm (UTC)Don't worry, I'll still create an alternate version without the filler (especially since I plan to host the ficseries on both Fanfiction.net and DeviantArt).
