Mom had me pick cherry tomatoes in her garden. It turns out that we've had too many for me, her, and Dad to consume by ourselves, so she had me give some of them to Diane and Mrs. Schwartz.

A short while ago, Mabel had one of her paws hurt from an encounter with a groundhog (which Mom had suspected had been eating her tomatoes). She had been limping ever since, although she seems to have healed halfway. However, just yesterday, Mom told me that one of her paw pads is either damaged or missing.

It's already been asked on Yahoo Answers whether paw pads grow back. While some people say yes, but others say that they don't, but scar tissue will replace the missing pads.

Cats, like all mammals, cannot regenerate, so if the whole pad is missing and not just a layer, then it won't come back. If it's a pad vital for support, surgery would be able to replace it by relocating one of the other pads.
If it's merely damaged, it will heal, but an eye needs to be kept open for infections since the pads often come in contact with the dirt of the ground.
