Sep. 9th, 2010 07:46 amReceived disk 2 of Burn Up Excess yesterday; sendoing back disk 1 today.
Somehow, despite the amount of male-bashing in this series, I feel like I could watch this series the whole way through. I still have disk 1 of Pani Poni Dash, of which I've only watched three episodes so far, and I'm probably gonna put disk 3 of Excess on my Netflix queue.
Episode 4 of the series, though... not likely ever watching again. Three lines, about Maya not looking any different, except for having a visit from the titty-fairy, but still being quite strong, repeated three times. Then, we have a performance where Maya and her Dad sing the line "We're one big happy family" eight times and then the latter telling a bunch of tongue-twisters that everyone knows. Seriously, fuck that.
Oh, and about the aforementioned male-bashing... Namely, guys are perverts, and all inter-sex punches are delivered from girls. It's too common to avoid completely in the kinds of anime I like (for the most part), but the amount of it in Love Hina, Hare + Guu, and Elfen Lied was the reason why I stopped watching those series very, very early. It's in every single episode of Burn Up Excess, so what is it with that one that makes me want to continue watching anyway?
(Exactly the reason for both Katsuo's existence in Monster Collection Chronicles, and for Ellen's chronic misfortune and trouble with guys in Magical Idol Ellen.)
