Regular entry later on.
Obviously, whatever contrived setup in Mon Colle Knights involved Redda trapping Rockna inside the Terror Dragon and everything else canon would non-canonically be the force behind Kasumi using the Time Sword to defeat Takeshi, and later on, to modify history so that the worlds stand a chance against Pfizgiy's influence.
Let's just say that there were lots of prophecies made, possibly as many as there are sand grains on a beach, and the vast majority of them simply never come true. No single entity, not even the gods or the Saint Star Dragon, had been pulling anyone's strings. For all anyone truly knows, the end of the worlds might simply have gone through, or might never have started in the first place.
(Essentially, that would mean that Mondo, Rockna, and McKnight weren't the only Man World inhabitants to have been blessed by the gods of Mon World.)
Defeats the whole point? Try reading Cursed Yoshi. While it does mention prophecies along the way, this later on becomes the same fic that says that the future is always changing, and even master prophets cannot truly predict it. Marcus reads a scripture explaining what is believed to happen in the future, which involves him, so essentially, this would give him the opportunity to defy his supposed destiny. And indeed, after he becomes Darkmark (right after a notable pivot point, no less), he proclaims to one of the gods that he is in control of his own life, not under the control of any gods or prophecies.

Date: 2019-07-14 07:49 pm (UTC)In short, people still have their own free will, despite any prophecies that might be made.

Date: 2019-07-14 07:49 pm (UTC)For characters within such a controlled universe, the idea of being a puppet would be bothersome (hence I had Rokuna worry about it briefly in Window). If it goes to Drosselmeyer levels, most certainly, but the prophecy in MCK and all the things that led up to it are hardly out of sadism. It's only there to stop Reda from completing his plans.
On a more down to earth level, society constantly paves out the paths for people to take. The clock ticks, it does so poorly, but without it, even less would work. Where it begins to be too much is the next question, naturally. Anyway, ....
whatever contrived setup in Mon Colle Knights involved Redda trapping Rockna inside the Terror Dragon
This makes it sound like you think that Reda's actions are part of the prophecy. That makes no sense, the set-up is there to counter his actions.

Date: 2019-07-14 07:50 pm (UTC)Well, Rokuna's ordeal inside the Terror Dragon was what triggered her to successfully mindrape something for the first time, which is what she needed to do in order to become a full-fledged empath and ready to merge with the Saint Star Dragon. In order for her to end up there, Mondo had to surrender his share of the Monster Items to Redda, thinking that he had the real Rokuna at swordpoint. If Mondo had refused to hand them over, the Terror Dragon wouldn't be awakened, the end of the world wouldn't begin, and there would be no need to even summon the Saint Star Dragon. They would have been able to nail Redda right then and there. Right? (Though, I do understand that Mondo couldn't have seen right through Redda's scheme and told the fake Rokuna apart from the real one, which is why he naturally gave in.)
But anyway, if I understand correctly what you're saying, the prophecy is like some sort of strategy, as in "this is what you should do when such-and--such happens", but cryptic. Right?
In any case, thanks for clearing things up here.

Date: 2019-07-14 07:51 pm (UTC)Who told you that? Cause that makes no sense either.
If Mondo had refused to hand them over, the Terror Dragon wouldn't be awakened,
The Terror Dragon was not asleep and its appearance had nothing to do with the items being handed over. Reda summoned it through a regular curse gate.
(Though, I do understand that Mondo couldn't have seen right through Redda's scheme and told the fake Rokuna apart from the real one, which is why he naturally gave in.)
Even if he would have noticed it was a fake Rokuna immediately, it makes no difference. Reda can just keep them occupied and teleport over to the Stove Dragon. It's standing less than a hundred meters from him, right where he can see it. Also, Mondo was cautious, it was Ichirobei who immediately handed over the items.
The set-up started with the kids themselves, all the way back in episode 1, not episode 49, so your reasoning for how it works starts in the middle while it should start at the beginning. The beginning is the world that would have been if there had been no set-up. Remove knights from setting.
What we're left with is Reda, who will find out about the seventh realm, and will get the items one way or another. Probably at a later date, but he'll trick his way into getting them. And then the world ends, because there was no one to draw the monsters together, or even any angels to summon the dragon to begin with. Simple as that.
Someone, perhaps the creatures from the time realm themselves, sent information to the past and set things up to prevent the end of time. Probably one of the quirks of being 4-dimensional lifeforms is that they would know ahead of time what's gonna happen.
Reda actions = putting Rokuna into the Terror Dragon cause he's rotten sadist.
Counter-setup = giving Rokuna a sixth sense so that she can get out in time.
There is nothing to indicate that the prophecy is anything other than a way to counter what Reda would do, Reda himself is not being magically prompted to act in a certain way to further it. Nobody is.

Date: 2019-07-14 07:53 pm (UTC)It was part of the prophecy, so it can be assumed that those in charge of setting it up also knew that there would be a point where she would have to mindrape the Terror Dragon.

Also, the Stove Dragon? I thought that was just something you made up for Shabalaa Boo, especially since you had Ichirobei tell Mondo and Rokuna that it runs on cartoon physics. I don't remember ever seeing any kind of mechanical dragon in the anime, so maybe it would help if you said more about it?
Other than that, everything makes sense now. Thanks.

Date: 2019-07-14 07:53 pm (UTC)Stove Dragon. Sutobi Dragon. Airplane. Items were in it before Ichirobei carried them out and handed them over. That annoying thing that we see in the take off stock footage all the time. It's probably called something else in the dub.
