From what I was told at work yesterday, someone gave me the last of the vote lists to enter into the database. I took the time to finish them up before meeting Mom outside to get picked up. Not gonna be going to work today.

-----

Me and Mom went to Target yesterday to pick up cereal and Halloween candy, among other things. I spent the first few minutes there at the games section, and noticed a game adaptation of Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer for the Wii. It showed some of the characters, such as Rudolph himself (obviously), the Abominable Snowman, Hermey the Elf, and Yukon Cornelius. According to the back of the case, you're supposed to do things like help make toys, deliver toys, and help Mrs. Claus bake cookies.

I know that Rudolph is already famous from the song, but for the 1964 TV adaptation to get its own game? Wow! That must be right up there with The Wizard of Oz, which came out in 1939 and got an SNES game adaptation in 1993. I remember watching Rudolph when I was in 1st grade (1992/93), and never saw it since for a 15-year period until just three years ago (unmentioned, and not counting reading a reference to it in Please Stop Laughing At Me during 2004).

So, speaking of retro, Mom got two single-bag boxes of Cap'n Crunch, on which the Captain and his fellow characters were pretty cheaply drawn. I commented on this when I got inside the car (after packing the groceries into the trunk), and she explained that Quaker was going for a retro style from when she was a kid.

(Here's a sample pic I just found.)

If anything's a coincidence, it's that the writers of Penny Arcade recently hosted a strip, where the first panel was drawn exactly as the webcomic looked like when it started in late 1998:

Last night, my parents and I were watching the news, and it featured a story about someone who turned his farm into a Halloween attraction. This kinda reminded Mom of some haunted barn that Marie worked at in 2005, where she was supposed to scream at the top of her lungs. She asked me if I remember any such place, and I took a few minutes to try to remember, but nothing came to mind.

Minutes later, Dad told us that he remembers taking me and the other kids to the Haunted Woods at the Yaphank Presbyterian Church in 1998. That's exactly the year I was in 7th Grade. Mom wasn't there with us because she worked late on Thursdays back then, which that night was on.

(For the record, I also remember some Halloween event at Charles E. Walters that Mom took us three kids to when I was in 4th grade (1995/96). Then, there are two that I went to in 8th grade (1999/2000): First was the Haunted Barn, which I went to with Matthew and his parents; second was something at some school or whatever, which Mom drove me, Brian, Marie, and Matthew to. Of course, the last of those three took place in broad daylight, which really watered it down.)

Whaddya know? Mom told me yesterday that Brian would be coming home last night, even though it was only one week/entry ago that I mentioned that he'd be coming home shortly before Thanksgiving. Dad picked him up from the train station hours before I woke up, and he's currently sleeping in Marie's room. So today, I think I'll have him look for whatever's missing for Ulead Video Studio while he's still here.

Once that's out of the way, I only have until Tuesday or Wednesday to continue going to work. After that, if not beforehand, I'll probably put more focus on creating and uploading new footage of Makeruna! Makendou Z.
