Mom emptied the living room out yesterday so she could paint it. Dad also decided where he wants the new firewood stacked, and I did half the entire pile just yesterday. And I had a break from Makeruna! Makendou Z, so that I could focus on my Japanese homework.

Finally got in touch with Cameron (a.k.a. Megajanitor) after more than a week of failing to connect with him through GoogleChat. Turns out that while he knows how to use IRCs, he has no experience with mIRC. He did find the email address of Tomodachi (the group that fansubbed the Makendou OAV), but told me that they would likely charge a lot of money for a fansub of my MMZ footage. Still wouldn't hurt to ask just how much they'd want when I email them, and I still have yet to consult Eriko at Stonybrook about getting someone else to translate everything for me.

So, I've just read on Bulbanews that various distribution events for Pokemon Black and White have been held in Japan. One of these had already ended on the 1st of this month, but good thing none of these are taking place here (obviously). Still, given that that particular event was a vote, I would so vote for Jirachi (hands down, no dice!) if it were to take place here.

Thinking of proposing a contest on DeviantArt (if members are even allowed to), but before I do, I'm gonna make a list of obscure or original characters that I would particularly like to promote for it:

1) Rokuna Hiragi (Mon Colle Knights)
2) Mai, Hikari, and/or Saya Tsurugino (Makeruna! Makendou Z)
3) Tiara Boobowski (Sonic Xtreme)
4) Hoshi (my character)
5) Sarah (the Jirachi cosplayer; see this pic for her.)
6) Silk Koharuno and/or Vivienne Otori (Ultimate Girls)
7) Blue (or, Ellen, as me and Jake call her; Pokemon Adventures manga)
8) Any of the girls from Getter Love!! (especially Natsuki and Makoto)
9) Midori (Rokuna's mother, depicted once in the Mon Colle Knights manga)
10) My female OC Knights for Monster Collection Chronicles (especially Anneth)

Not gonna go into detail about the contest itself on this post, but feel free to ask in a comment or PM. I'll say right now, though, that it's something Jake doesn't always want to talk about (even though he brought it up for a few RPs in the past), and Chelle already ruled it out as done to death.

Contests are pretty common on dA, and perfectly allowed, dA even keeps them themselves. Prizes can be anything from money to art to deviant subscriptions to features. However, for a contest to work out, you need to have an large enough audience willing to participate and enter. Also, don't make the deadline too far away, cause then possible entrants forget.

Prizes... unfortunately, I don't think I have anything to give out, so that probably means it won't be happening for the time being, if ever. There's that, and also the fact that I should have some pics of each of the aforementioned OCs drawn up first (to familiarize participants with them).

In any case, what do you usually give away as contest prizes? (Just to give me some idea for myself.)

I don't usually keep contests. I've entered a number of dA held contests though; almost everyone gives away picture requests. The better the artist, the more people enter. Money (or paid membership to dA) is the second most common, and very rarely, the prize is some rare item or handmade artsy thing. I only entered picture contests though.
