Jan. 28th, 2013 08:38 amThe other day, I remembered my two gift cards sitting in my drawer only after purchasing Sonic Adventure DX and Sonic Adventure 2: Battle on Ebay. I managed to spend my Visa gift card on points on DeviantArt, so that I wouldn't keep forgetting it was there, but was stopped when I tried using my MasterCard card for it. Most likely, it was because the site had reason to suspect that someone got a hold of my bank account. Complained to the staff, and was told that the site isn't fully compatible with prepaid gift cards.
Called GameStop that evening to see if they had any copies of Xenoblade Chronicles, which Jake would like me to try out despite it not being anime-style, but it turns out they were sold out. Mom overheard and asked me didn't I just buy a couple of games the same day, and I told her that I was trying to use up my other gift card so that it doesn't continue to sit in my drawer on end while I keep remembering and forgetting about it. She suggested that maybe she could give me the cash equivalent and use the card to buy stuff like groceries. (I didn't quite turn her down, but found that option a bit awkward, since that would mean that Grandma Barbara and Aunt Marie might as well have sent me checks or cash in the first place.)
A few days ago, someone left a note on Job Offers asking for money, because their computer crashed and they don't have a job because they can't drive or get a ride. At first, I thought this would be a good way to spend the $50 that was on the card, in exchange for artwork whenever he's back in action, but I couldn't even use it through PayPal itself.
I then sent Grandma Barbara a PM on Facebook, asking her to take the following instructions on this eHow page:

Just yesterday morning, when she made her weekly call to us, I spoke to her after Mom was done, and told her about the PM I sent her. Turns out that she actually hardly uses Facebook (I barely use mine myself, although I do receive plenty of emails from the site), but she suggested exactly what Mom suggested the other day. So, I finally agreed to it after I was done speaking to her.
As for that guy on DeviantArt, I've decided I'm not gonna bother donating anything to him. One, Job Offers isn't a place to ask for money, and two, I've never even met him. If this were Jake or Chelle, I would gladly pay them, in exchange for pre-paid art commissions or fanfiction pages. This guy could be a scammer, and even if he wasn't, I have had issues with certain commission artists (looking at you, Colaholic). Needless to say, I'm glad I was stopped from making any payments to him, so that I could think things through a bit.

That pic got two comments (the first by John) and at least eight faves during just the few minutes after I uploaded it last night, and a handful more faves overnight, thanks in no small part to me uploading it to both of my own groups and another group called Bigtitslovers.

Beat Mega Man 6 this morning.
Lives lost: 172
Game Overs: 21
Took three days to complete including today. Would've beaten it last night if I wasn't "6" the first day and was able to play more rounds of it. But, the point of even playing these games isn't to stave off the end of Kanji in Context (which I would like to be done with), just to make KiC itself more bearable.
