dmxratedRecently, I read this LuckyStar/Madoka crossover fanfic called Stars Above. After reading this entry, if you decide to read the fic itself, pay particular attention to the flashback scenes. Those are what's relevant here.
Just last night, I had this dream that said flashbacks took place on this metal walkway above some body of water, which led to some sphere-shaped structure atop some kind of tower, all under a rather peaceful dark-blue night sky, all similar to Lunatic Wisdom Laboratory in Dark Cloud 2. All Magical Girls still standing were fighting some kind of shadow monster born from Mami, although Mami herself was still alive. Somehow, Chrono from Chrono Trigger was involved in things as well, though I can't remember how.
This, if you ask me, would make some nice material for Starbound, after the team is all assembled; just replace Mami with Maria (the blonde girl) and Chrono with Davì (the one guy) as the one they might've been trying to protect for whatever reason ever since meeting him (kinda like how Homura's mission in the fic is to protect resident non-MGs Kagami and Tsukasa).
