Sep. 18th, 2013 06:48 amAnd, that userpic issue somehow resolved itself right after I typed up yesterday's post.
Finally got tired of walking back and forth between computers and Facebook accounts to give myself more lives, although I still do play Candy Crush whenever enough time passes for the game itself to give me any.
Didn't go to Apple yesterday, but Brian did at least manage to back my stuff up onto an external hard drive. At least he said last night that he'd be able to do that.

A week ago, I told Mom that I had written that Marie was only gonna be in Peru for a couple of days, when in fact, she was due to stay there until the 14th. Dad told me that I shouldn't write about our comings and goings on my blog, where everyone can read it. I discussed the issue with both of them, and Mom told me that, while it's not very likely, anyone reading this blog could plan to rob our house when we're away.
It's one thing that I be asked not to talk about any sexual or violent fantasies that I have, but I do need to mention changes in setting for the sake of continuity in this blog, so as to not confuse anyone. For example, if I were to stay in New Jersey and didn't mention that, people would wonder where Uncle Robby, Cousin Adam, and Grandpa Bob came from, since they don't live here. And besides, it's not like we have anyone in particular to be paranoid of, unlike Jake or Chelle. So, advice rejected.
Right now, Mom and Dad have been on vacation since a day or so after we had that talk. I won't specify where they are, though, until they come back.
-----
Mom and I also had another discussion earlier the same day, regarding something (benign) I did at Target. Actually, that wasn't the first time I did that; I even once did at BestBuy during the holidays, and Marie told me that that isn't normal. In this case, though, she also mentioned that I need to try to fit in better with people, which has done nothing to convince me not to continue.
Reading this, you're probably gonna think I'm a hypocrite for doing this when I talk a lot about self-respect. My point, though, is that it's called self-respect. It's about following your own rules, deciding for yourself what's more important between any two or more things, and not bending to those set by other people or society in general that you don't see fit to. It is for no one but oneself to judge. I am not a saint, nor do I strive to be one; I just have my own set of rules with which to override anyone else's that they may conflict with, and where there isn't one in the first place, there is no need to establish one. Some of those rules, for example, are about how I play video games or the lottery, something which not everyone has (especially if those things are irrelevant to them to begin with). Here, it's not like I got drunk and took my clothes off at a party or anything.
If anything, I don't bother with it if it's too far out of my way. Won't ask kids for anything, since that might make people suspect me of pedophilia. Also won't do it in front of anyone in my family from now on, at least to avoid embarrassing them, unless they were to follow me somewhere. But, my rules are my rules, and they don't have to line up with anyone else's.

Date: 2013-09-18 01:15 pm (UTC)Yincira's idea of making these posts friends-only until after they return is a really good idea. Your blog isn't more important than your safety and the safety of the house. Please make this friends only.

Date: 2019-07-16 12:01 pm (UTC)You could just make the entries that mention when everyone will be out of the house friends-only, and unhide them after everyone's home again?
Agree on doing benign if socially unacceptable stuff; I had a debate with my mom over wearing pants that are too long just the other day that went along those veins.

Date: 2019-07-16 12:01 pm (UTC)As for asking people for soda bottle caps, I guess I'll cut that out after all, then.

Date: 2019-07-16 12:03 pm (UTC)Anyway, yeah. Having read something that Marie shared with me via email, I will reconsider where to draw the line regarding mentioning changes in location. If it's my whole family spending just a few days down in Virginia, I could probably wait until we're home. Me spending a whole week or even more than a month in New Jersey, though... will probably mention that openly, especially since at least Mom and Dad will still be home to watch the house. For week-long vacations such as at Lake Owasco two years ago, I might f-lock all entries from the first relevant one, provided it won't be more than that long anyway.
As for what Mom deems wrong with asking for caps, she told me that it might come off as harassment of some sort. Before I show this exchange to her (if it even comes to that), I should note that if someone were to say no, I wouldn't bug them any further than that.
Also, most caps I find are usually off the ground. I do buy my own drinks once in a while, such as if we're eating out somewhere. But really, they're usually just boni whenever I find any, except for when I'm specifically looking around the neighborhood for them.
