Dec. 16th, 2013 05:41 amMom noticed the other morning that her shed in the garden was open and our snowblower is gone. Dad and Brian were at the gym at that time, so it's a good thing she stayed home from work for all of last week, or she wouldn't have noticed. Dad called the police, and spoke to them when they came to our house.
Upon talking to our neighbors, he found out that others have also had stuff stolen from their toolsheds, and it seems to be Daniel and Jason Labby behind it. Mom even described those two guys yesterday as the "Trailer Park Boys" of Medford, after a show that she, Dad, and Brian have been watching recently about some guys who live in a trailer park and make a living by robbing people and dealing drugs.

Since the 22nd of September, Mom and I have looked into fixing the problem with my computer background. So far, we did at least manage to get the image I wanted to appear correctly, but it still disappears after some length of time, without me even doing anything like shutting the machine down.
While we were at her house, Grandma Barbara wrote me a check for a large sum of money. After speaking to my parents, I allowed Mom to deposit the check into her bank account, so that she could use it to get my laptop repaired and pay off my student loans.
Just the other day, I asked Mom how much of that money should be left over, and she said not much. I explained that, assuming I'd have a substantial amount left, I was thinking of using part of it (a drop in the bucket, compared to the total amount) towards a genuine copy of Windows, which she already told me beforehand would be too expensive to get me for Christmas.
These past couple of days, we looked into finding the real solution to my desktop problem. She tried several things, but even when we thought we solved it, the background would still revert to black after about half an hour. Brian told me before that this is due to counterfeiting, and upon asking him again once he was awake, he confirmed it. Mom shortly after had me write down what the problem was, and we agreed to talk further about it next month after the holidays.
As of this morning, Mom tried simply opening the image in Windows Photo Viewer, and suggested I just leave it, so that at least my computer looks more lively than by default. I went along with it for now, because it's not like there's any point closing out of it when I can still access my stuff on a toolbar, but since I turn that computer off every night before bed, I'm probably not gonna go out of my way either to reopen the same pic or some other every single morning.
