But even with enough creative talent to explain the science behind zombies, how to deal with them, etc., it's still pretty obvious that the whole thing is a sham. If the dead ever were to wander the earth, our oldest relatives would've experienced them, as would our parents and even ourselves.
Of course, reading it has given me ideas for my first real Mon Colle Knights fanfic, to be combined with the main themes from the MCK fic Being With You and the Legend of Zelda fanfic Empire of Darkness (http://www.fanfiction.net/s/2472503/1/):
Two years after the battle against Redda, the Mon Colle Knights are still looking for the Monster Items. However, for those two years, they couldn't enter Mon World because the gates were closed in order for whatever was destroyed in Mon World to be restored. Meanwhile, a race of black-skinned "people" called necro-demons have migrated from the Evil Realm into the rest of Mon World. (Unlike humans, they actually have claws, white hair, sharp teeth, and blood-red eyes. The whites and pupils in their eyes are still visible, though.) They keep the corpses of anyone they kill for in case too many people rise up against them, in which case, they bring them to life to turn uprisers against their own people.
I wish Adalia were here to read this, but I'll bet that Monica, as the author of Being With You, would be even more interested in the book and this theme.
