Beat Paper Mario last night. Might play the next two games in line at some point, although Sticker Star is pretty much out of the question unless I ever obtain a Nintendo 3DS.

As for the immediate reason why I started playing it... Well, let me take a few quotes from TV Tropes.

First, under Executive Veto:

Super Mario Galaxy is noted for having a relatively complex plot for a Mario game, but Shigeru Miyamoto kept the team from going further in that direction for the sequel, reflecting his belief that Mario games shouldn't really have deep plots.

And, under Vindicated By History:

Super Paper Mario caused a Broken Base due to using real-time battles and being quite a bit easier than the previous two games. It's mostly died down (especially with the release of Paper Mario: Sticker Star to take the heat off), with the game being viewed as different, but enjoyable, and especially appreciated for its storyline (quite uncommon for Mario), and its meta gameplay-related jokes have aged well.

Appreciated for its storyline. Quite uncommon for Mario.

For the record, the only other Mario game I know of to have any kind of depth is Super Mario RPG. After failing to save Peach from Bowser's Keep, you report to the Mushroom Kingdom castle, before getting sidetracked to help Mallow. You come back to the Mushroom Kingdom to find it under siege, claim a star-shaped object after fighting Mack inside the castle, and wonder if the two are connected in some way. Then, you make your way to Tadpole Pond, only to learn that Peach is long gone from Bowser's Keep. Frogfucius fills you in on the situation as a whole, and you make your way. It's only after fighting another general that you learn what the deal is with the Star Pieces.

During their meeting at Tadpole Pond, Frogfucius also tells Mallow that, rather than being an actual tadpole (who doesn't look anything like one), he was adopted when he found him floating by in a handbasket. His wish along Star Hill is to find his real family, and he eventually does: He was actually the rightful prince of Nimbus Land. (While the actual reason was never specified, it's implied he was sent away because of Valentina, who imprisoned his parents before taking the throne.)

We also see Bowser a few times along the way, his minions' numbers dwindling until he's all alone outside Booster Tower.

Blade, the vessel on which you fight the Axem Rangers, is also foreshadowed at Seaside Town; first, when Yaridovich complains that it's running late right before you fight him, and then if you read a note left by Jonathan Jones afterwards.

Anyway, still got eight episodes left to watch of Little Busters, before bringing it (along with those magazines) to my library today. Will reorganize my agenda probably tomorrow.
