So, I've just noticed today that most Witches who appeared in the anime and the PSP game are accompanied with a copy of their Kiss on their respective information cards. Looked at a table on the wiki this morning, and took a few minutes to specify which Witch each Kiss belongs to. (Note: If you access the image through the wiki itself instead of the following link, make sure you delete the "s" in "https" in order to see the information in question.)

This, unfortunately, is not something that was brought up in that Tumblr entry. Some things are obvious enough, but I still don't get things like the design styles (which all vary). I did find a deviantArt member named Hexidextrous, who created Kisses for three of her own Witches, but while she does have the symbolism down pat, all three of them carry the same style (unlike what's shown in that table).

I do understand that Witches themselves and everything pertaining to them were all taken care of primarily by one person (Gendikan Inu-Curry). I have asked Chelle if she might be able to create the sketches for new ones, since she knows how to read between lines, but she is currently busy dealing with some fanfics (including my own story that I sent her for review) and can only focus on one thing at a time. So, here's hoping that either she or Hex might at least be able to give me some tips to share with Agatha.

Gertrud: Butterflies are a major element of her Barrier. Not sure what the spikes lining its bottom half are supposed to represent, though.

Charlotte: A close enough look reveals the figure in the center to be the Witch's initial, doll-like form. Can't make sense of anything else, though.

Kirsten: She's the Box Witch, that's obviously supposed to be an old-fashioned TV set, which in turn depicts two of her familiars. It is speculated that the events leading to either her wish or her downfall may have had something to do with an experience she had with a former boyfriend, hence the position.

Albertine: As the Scribble Witch, it would make sense that her Kiss be drawn with crayons. However, this image seems rather coherent, obviously depicting a magic wand and several other things. Not sure what those might represent.

Gisela: No close-ups anywhere; not able to make out what's inside the circle. I do suppose the mark itself could be a bosozoku gang symbol, but I'm not all that familiar with gangs in general.

Elsa Maria: Obviously the sun, even though she is the Witch of Shadows. I suppose here, it might reflect how one cannot have shadows without light.

Oktavia von Seckendorff: A crown of swords. Those also look like music lines passing through them. Those two things are obvious enough. That red thing along the bottom, though?

Izabel: No close-ups anywhere. I can tell that that is a head with short tentacles, as would be drawn abstractly.

Patricia: Obviously, that's a necktie, a common part of school uniforms in Japan, that the Kiss depicts. The emblem itself resembles a golden coin or medallion; I suppose that may have had to do with the kind of respect she gained in her mortal life to become her class's representative in the first place.

Roberta: She's the Birdcage Witch, so that much is obvious. Not sure about the underline, though.

Kriemhild Gretchen: Those are obviously wings pointing to the sides. Can't really make anything else out, though (especially when there aren't any bigger pics of it).

Walpurgisnacht: The cogwheels obviously correspond to the several giant ones that comprise her body. Not sure about the outer layer of spade-shapes (the tips of a stage curtain?), and there are no larger images through which to identify anything else.

Candeloro: The dress that Mami wore as a Puella Magi. Not sure about anything else.

Ophelia: A shield, to represent the Witch as a warrior of some sort. Not sure about the red-and-green color-coding, and can't find any larger images to decipher anything else.

Homulilly: This one is a special case, as she assumes (along with several different forms altogether) not one but two very different Kisses in The Rebellion Story than what she has in the aforementioned game.

For the game version, the hourglass and infinity symbol obviously represent the period of time that Homura has done over and over again. That thing sprouting those "legs" seems to represent a red spider lily, something believed to foretell two people who will never meet again. Purple is Homura's signature color, and the diamond-shape is the shape of her Soul Gem. Can't decipher those wavy things or the little white circles.

For the Rebellion version, one of the emblems might actually be a rune. From the other, I can make out a tooth (she is the Nutcracker Witch), what might be some hair, a dress, a pair of pins, and a black-rimmed yellow circle behind her. That one is already one of the more complicated Kisses out of all of them, and having written as much as I have so far, I think I'll just move on to the remaining few.

(Can someone also tell me why this Witch retains part of her mortal name, even though others don't?)

Quitterie: As the Needle Witch, the two crossed needles only make sense. That's as much as does offhand, though.

Itzli: Rings? Inward-bent triangle? Hearts? Green? Hmmmm...

While writing everything in the above cut, I had managed to come across someone else who had drawn up an alternate Witch form for Mami, which included her own Kiss. Will be sure to check out her other work and enlist her help.

If I had to guess, I'd say that the spikes visible on Getrud's Kiss are supposed to represent rose thorns. - BHS

Thanks for the tidbit, and thanks for starting to watch my blog! Looks like an actual friendship between us might very well be underway!
