Dec. 16th, 2016 06:41 amMom and I dug through the attic and her closet for some old stuff from my childhood these past few days. Among other things, I happened to find my old journal for Group. Looked through that yesterday, but there's nothing major that I hadn't already accounted for in Chronicles of 7th Grade.
-----
Called Mrs. Silverman on the phone yesterday. At first, she didn't recognize my voice, and I specified having been in her class at Charles E. Walters.
To start with, she asked me if I knew that Dowling College was closed; she used to teach there at one point. On a similar note, after telling her I had known since it happened, I told her about having found out that my 3rd grade teacher, Maxine Edis (who also coordinated weekly afterschool bowling), has been dead for a few years now. She mentioned having retired on the same year as her in 2001.
Moving on, I was not surprised to hear that she turned 70 last summer, after specifying my own age after she asked as 30.
Right now, she and her husband are on vacation in Florida, and she's gonna need a few days to set a computer up before we can chat further on Skype.
