Nov. 16th, 2017 05:54 amBought a Powerball ticket while running some errands yesterday. First number was 25, and the Powerball number was 23. Had they switched ends, I would've won some exact bus fare.
Then again, where I went, I should've gotten New York Lotto instead. Originally, I was planning to buy 7-11-21 (a $1 scratchoff game), but that wasn't available. Normally, I play bi-weekly games when either I roll a 1 or the game I'm actually looking for isn't available where I go. In the latter case, I usually buy something for the same amount I would have spent (NYL is $1; PowerBall is $2 by default), except for on Mondays and Thursdays, for which Cash4Life costs a fixed $2 with no applicable bonus. However, in the former case, which is much more frequent, I make sure to play a Megaplier or PowerPlay, which brings the total cost to $3, except for when I've spent over my weekly limit (I once bought NYL on a Saturday, after having spent $4 of my weekly $5 throughout that week).
So, yeah, NYL was obviously easy to forget about, so let me make a list of what applies:
Rolling a 1 (after last allowance, minus amount spent, on one ticket):
Mon/Thu:
Cash4Life
Tue/Fri:
$3+: Mega Millions w/ Megaplier
$1-2: Mega Millions
Wed/Sat:
$3+: PowerBall w/ PowerPlay
$2: PowerBall
$1: New York Lotto
Defaulting (spend as close to amount I would've spent, on one ticket):
Mon/Thu:
Cash4Life
Tue/Fri:
$1-2: Mega Millions
$3+: Add Megaplier
Wed/Sat:
$1: New York Lotto
$2: PowerBall
$3+: Add PowerPlay
