Nov. 26th, 2017 03:41 amManaged to address some concerns of mine with Brian yesterday, about the possibility of Unwilling Service being mostly a straightforward novelization of the Pokemon video games with a gimmick added, even though that gimmick is what inspired the whole thing in the first place and will enable my chosen mains to tackle Sinnoh (instead of me defaulting to the canon mains of Diamond/Pearl/Platinum). He told me that something much more straightforward than Pokemon Adventures would already be hard enough for someone like me, and also agreed to help fund the project if I can actually write some more content fast enough after he and Marie leave. (I should actually be able to re-read what I had already written of Ellen's third chapter and continue from there this morning, since Brian wakes up rather late in the morning and Marie is going with Mom to visit Grandpa Bob today.)
(I would like to novelize everything from Black/White onward, to make use of both Pokemon and worldbuilding, but no one else had ever grown onto me, including Dawn (one of Jake's favorite characters, who debuted for the Sinnoh games), and I do not plan to have my established mains travel everywhere in the franchise like Ash in the anime. That is the reason I had continued reading player's guides even after ceasing terms with the games themselves, but even if I were to decide on the Beehive Brigade as my mains of choice, they still wouldn't feel as special as the current mains, and when there are still more regions and Pokemon introduced in the franchise, who will be next if there is to be a third story? A second one would probably have to wait until both US and the unrelated Starbound are finished before I decide what to actually do with anything. US itself was just a spur-of-the-moment thing, and the games that comprised a convenient template just so also happened to be the source of a lot of nostalgia and ideas for a reconstruction. I'm pretty sure any plans I'd form would be quite different if I had conceived of the whole thing a few years later, with Black and White, which Jake hated for coming out during a time when he was on some negative terms with the franchise, and whose main antagonist (as I predicted even beforehand) had more "modest" goals than Cyrus, already out, and especially if I actually managed to play my copy of White in depth, which probably would have been the case, since it was US for which I would find out so much stuff about the games in general that rubbed me just the wrong way.)

Played a round of Monopoly with Brian and Marie yesterday. I managed to beat both of them by trapping Marie into some expensive rent when I laid some Modest Apartments (houses) and then some Beautiful Mansions (hotels) right in front of her, and then doing the same with Brian with two Modest Apartments for each space somewhere else on the board.
