Yesterday morning, Dad got an airhorn for himself to use on the catboat in an emergency. Later on, Talia called looking for Brian, and I picked the phone up. After telling her I'll put him on, I was going to blow the horn into the phone, but Mom's like "Don't you dare." She then had to hide it somewhere, but I suggested that we should use it next time we get a telemarketer. Then, on the way to work, I asked Mom, "You know what else would be funny? If the phone had a built-in joybuzzer. You just press a button, and it sends an electric jolt into the other person's ear."

"That would be hilarious," she responded.

After work, Mom took me to Borders while she and Brian went to get a bike helmet. I read the entire first chapter of Excel Saga, and then the beginning of Cosplay Koromo-chan, before we left.

Coming home from Borders, I told Mom about how amazing it is that so much stuff happened in 7th Grade despite how little initiative I took to make any of it happen.

"Didn't you talk to Dad about this, last night?" she responded.

"Back then, I was a lot more obsessed with video games than I am nowadays," I said.

"Usually, people don't get their priorities straight until their late teens. Some people lag behind even longer."

"Yeah, but I never even took any social initiative, unlike Brian and Marie."

"Your father was obsessed with models when he was in 7th Grade. He didn't take a social life. I didn't have any friends either."

"Didn't you say that it's common for autistic people to lack social interest?"

She told me about books written by autistic individuals themselves and people who study autism, and that I should take the time to research autism.
