dmxratedWent to Friendly's for ice cream with Brian yesterday afternoon. He brought something up about Starbound, and suggested that Ichirobei expose less than he did for the sake of plausibility and mystery. He thought it might be interesting if the party visits the first mana spot, faints, and then wakes up in Magicant without knowing where they are.
Right now, I couldn't think of a good way to modify the relevant bit of dialogue in chapter 2, but I have re-watched some footage of Earthbound Zero, and what George's spirit says before singing the last melody indicates that he clearly had known about Magicant. I'm gonna need Brian to play through that game first in order to determine how plausible or implausible that already is, since the PSI research of his backstory is exactly the basis of Shigesato's of the Magé Stones that Ichirobei had been keeping in progress in my own story.
With that, while I should be able now to get started on chapter 6 (after finally deciding just to clone Earthbound Zero's Magicant), actually posting it should probably wait until we figure out how or even whether or not to change anything retroactively. That way, if we do so, I'll be able to mark it in the opening notes for anyone who had already started reading it, where no one has read yet and will be more likely to pick up on it than in pre-established material where no one will be re-reading the same stuff for unlikely changes. In turn, that means that running any contests for subsequent chapters and their locales will have to wait.
Right now, I am feeling somewhat more inclined to continue where I had left off with Ellen's next chapter for Unwilling Service, now that my inclination for that story is returning. What I want mainly, instead of a beta to rewrite the whole chapter, is just to mark down the important points whenever I give Reynaldo permission to start writing. After that, knowing myself, I'm gonna need a break from writing, and will probably see Mother 3 all the way through in order to recharge my muse for Starbound.
