Meg Griffin
Jul. 29th, 2005 07:41 amI watched three episodes of Family Guy yesterday: two in a row before All My Children, and another one like after dinner.
I do understand that Meg isn't popular, which I didn't mind, but now I'm noticing the physical abuse she's started to take since episode Stuck Together, Torn Apart. In last Sunday's episode, she was tossed out of the boat during a boat race because the family needed to get as much weight out of their boat as possible to win. Understandable, since Peter and Chris are too overweight to swim, and Stewie too young, but one reviewer on TV Tome said that it was becoming "more malicious than comical." I'm starting to agree with him/her. I also noticed in a preview of next episode that she gets shot in the back with multiple darts and falls unconscious.
Anyway, yesterday, Meg and Lois were trying to get a piano off a CostMart shelf, and Lois left it to Meg when she noticed someone she knew back in school. Obviously, the piano landed right on top of Meg, and when she called for help, everyone just stood there. One spectator placed a watermelon on the keys and smashed it with a sledgehammer. (Haw haw haw haw haw--not!) It would have been funnier if that person handed someone his cell phone and said "Hurry and dial 911 while I smash this watermelon," although there is humor in the fact that her body was still intact after the incident, thus saving herself (and Lois) a visit to the hospital.
Usually, in The Simpsons, that's the kind of stuff that happens to Homer, the father. It's a good thing Lois was the injured party when Peter tried to steal the box of hot grease in Petarded; at least Meg's not the one receiving ALL the injuries. We should also be thankful she's not exactly bullied as much as she is shunned.
