Martin told me about the fanfiction.net search engine, and I tried that instead of hunting for babyfics. I found nearly thirty Sonic the Hedgehog babyfics by typing "baby" into a summary search, and another handful with the keywords "babies," "toddler," "babies" "pregnant," and "pregnancy." None were found under "infant."
One fanfic, titled Babysitting Can Be Murder, is a crossover between the Sonic Adventure and the AoStH universes, and is already complete. It was okay, but not even as great as Project: Babysitting, much less as Eggman's New Invention. Most of it focused on finding Dr. Eggman, and there wasn't enough to do with the babies. But of course, my own Super Mario babyfic SMW2: Yoshi's Island rewritten doesn't have nearly as much focus on babysitting either as it does on the journey to Bowser's Castle.
A different fanfic, titled Mind of a Child, seems more promising. Right now, only chapter 1 has been uploaded, but I took the opportunity to suggest to the author that he read about and include Tiara from Sonic Xtreme."
So far, Project: Babysitting is still the best existing babyfic that I've found. And the worst? The Incredible Shrinking Wotch (a Wotch fic), which was written by Martin (LordBudFerg on fanfiction.net; Yogizmo330 on AIM). One of the characters gradually de-ages down to infancy, and the only babysitting that takes place is one diaper change. The rest of it is finding a cure to said character's curse.
